Cannot Dock Ship
I am trying to dock a very small CV to my larger CV, but it just will not dock.

1. Yes they are the same player faction.
2. No, there are not any other ships docked, these are the only 2 ships I have.
3. Yes, the landing gears are on the very bottom row of the ship.
4. Yes, there is a flush connection between the landing gear and ship I am trying to dock to. I am using the O key to align both ships.
5. I have tried replacing the gears in case they were bugged or something.

Anyone have any other suggestions? This is getting pretty frustrating.

EDIT: Read 4th comment for reason it isn't working. Can't mark my own replies as answers annoyingly.

Then it should work. I've been carrying around a CV runabout internally all evening. Are you sure no lights or flares or anything are getting in the way?

That's odd. I was able to dock two CVs. Even with both of them with their shields on. All I can suggest is the usual. Verify Game files through Steam. Log out, shut the game down and log back in. SP or MP server?

Yea it's the same BP (different ship, same BP) that I had been docking to another CV before. Spawned new ship, now it won't.

RE SP, though sometimes co op with a friend.

A boarding ramp made up part of the floor of the vessel I was trying to dock on. Somehow, removing that fixed it, despite it being on the same level as the floor. I could dock other ships over the boarding ramp, just not this one. Even just making boarding ramp thinner (only change to width, not height) worked. Sigh.

Yeah, i've seen that kind of thing happen before. Ideally you can have other blocks and devices flush with the bottom of the landing gears and they should still connect, but it's iffy. Sometimes it causes the vessel to not sit completely flat for some reason (even though it shouldn't) and that tiny break prevents a connection.

Since this is a voxel based system, EVERYTHING is made of cubes, even if you don;t see the rest of the cube. Example is a window or door that appears flat does take up the entire cube. Perhaps the boarding ramp visually appears ok, but the invisible part of the voxel cube blocks the CV from getting a tight "connection"?

A ship that already has a vessel docked to it cannot dock to another.

But that doesn't mean you can't dock two ships in one, it just means you can't stack them up...

Also the OP explicitly said there are no other docked ships, and these two are the only two he has.

It seems that docking will not work if there are undocked ships parked in the wild nearby, you'd have to put them further away (some 10 feeled meters only), this could be the reason. This happened to me when I tried to land a SV on a CV while a HV was parked (but not docked) near the CV, a little different scenario but I imagine the problem also comes-up with CV-CV docking. However, I got a message onscreen warning me.
And it was in vanilla, not RE.

One thing i can think of that i haven't seen mentioned yet...

Is the CV sitting on a base platform? You maybe landed it then went about your business and it docked by default without you realizing it.
This happened to me. I had a SV sitting at my base, made a HV and tried to load it up but it wouldn't take. After screwing with the pad and moving stuff around, i finally figured out... DERP... the SV is sitting on a platform and auto-docked. Moved it off the platform and it worked fine.

I bet this is a large problem. The CV probably can't tell the difference from being docked to another CV, so it would be like stacking. But no one, including me, would think of it.

Don't some landing gears not have the "dock" function, or was that changed in one of the recent updates?

All of the actual landing gear have "dock" capability, for at least the last two years. But if you just have some blocks to hold up the craft, they will not dock. (And at lest one of the landing gear must touch the deck to work, so what they said about obstructions.)
