how do you destroy the core in the drone base?
I fought my way all the way down there and found it...but its indestructible . Behind shatter proof glass and armor, set off 5 explosive devices against one glass panel and barely made a scratch and the compression from the explosions (3 at one) didn't destroy the core. tried up to 7 explosives on it and nothing. so destroyed all the generators and fuel tanks and everything stopped, the radar dishes etc, so dont know if that counts as destroyed or not.

It sounds like it's an admin core so you can't destroy it.

It’s been a while, but if you killed all the gennys then it is dead. If I remember correctly, there were 2 switches on either side of the core that could be flipped to blow it. But I’m not sure if that was that particular POI.

There is no drone base with an admin core I believe

i've used up to 25 explosives on the heavy windows around the core to get them to break

The fact you damaged blocks and glass at all tells me it's not an admin core (not to mention irl drone bases never have admin cores) . you just need to use more explosives.

On a side note, I find preposterous you need so many explosives for one core.
If you are near the core, that means you have fought for it. You have spent time and ammunition to reach the core. Why should I spend so much more time to blow the core up? So many explosives?
Last time I tried, I needed a full inventory of explosives to dent the blocks around the core.

They should be either invulnerable or reasonably protected. Setting up so many explosives for one block is a waste of time.

some have a hidden entrance that can take you to the rear of the core, others use switches

You need to destroy the tubes and construction above the core, then you free the core and can destroy it. If the base is shielded (which I don't think) you'd need to destroy the generators and/or shield first. Use explosives or the Scatter Blaster to speed up.

Ok first , there is no tunnels going to the core other bases had those in the past but not this one. second after 5 explosives yesterday today dropped another 20 more on it and except for some dented panels around it its still there. switches to get to it were all upstairs and none on either side of the core.so its a stand alone monster to get rid of. even shot my way into some vents and tunnels and found one room with a single soldier guarding fuel cells but no entrance to the core from anywhere on any level. with all the generators dead and no power and no drone spawner either I'm going to call it dead until i see someone shooting at my base.

Yes, the drone base is initially shielded, as it has been for a number of versions now.

The drone base core has needed a large number of explosives because it is supposed to be tough. I recently did that in my current game (within 2 weeks) and this is accurate.

Have you read my post above? You can check if the core compound is shielded: Take your multitool then shoot at the core construction by looking at the hitpoint number displayed on the right. If the number doesn't change it means the compound is shielded and you need to do what I said above. Good luck.

But shields should be down if the base has no generators left, shouldn't they?

Yes.
And in order not to search for the core in vain, you can also test if it was already destroyed: If you can place your own core (don't place it, just try) then the base is yours, you will have access to it with the P menu; if you can't place your core then the enemy core still exists and you must destroy it to take the base.

What I have done and read from authors that make POI's is. You notice when you shoot at a turret and hit the block, you get the can not damage with this item. That means that when the creator made the POI the only blocks you can damage are the blocks they have per-damaged before the POI is published. So saying when you check the blocks around the core check for the damaged blocks. Some blocks can only be damaged by explosives, some you can use projectile but not shotgun. Such as the occasional door for example. It varies. Some are designed to be destroyed by flipping a switch, which is pretty much the only way unless you really put some work into it. Unless it is a chevron it can be destroyed. Just have to find the key.
Yes if the shields are down there is nothing shielded.
Somewhere around here is a discussion on this with POI makers input as well as Spanj talked about it in his videos while making the Farr Faction.

That's only for an admin core Amrak, otherwise every block is destroyable.

As far as I'm aware, there is no drone base that has an admin core so the blocks will be destroyable. Might take a while depending on what's protecting the core it might take more explosivers/shots than other cores.
