Game looks interesting but it looks like a unity ripped asset flip
The game looks interesting but watching the stiff animations etc makes it look like a asset flip.

It still uses a lot of stock unity assets, yes.

Something I had hoped they would fix before calling it "released". It's still a very basic graphic design, while I personally have FPS issues in high traffic areas. Not sure if it's the animations or just the way it is? The recent update to spawn more creatures at harder POI's, or fleet battles with the factions, are some of the worst FPS drops. One fix I hope that doesn't require a $4K graphics card. Though I'm running a 1080 others have 2080 and still suffer FPS issues.

It is not an asset flip.

It is littered with placeholders, but it is no where near as bad as an asset flip.

The core systems of the game are there and fun-enough to mess around with... but the quality of the art/models/animations are extremely uneven.

Eleon seems to be putting a fair bit of work into sprucing up the visuals... so maybe check back in a year or so to see if they manage to get the models and animations on par with the scenery.

That what puts me off from buying, too many quick buck unity games.

It is clearly not a "quick buck" unity game.

But as I said, its probably best to add this to your wish list and check back in a year... or watch some you tube videos and see if its just not right for you.

It's definitely nowhere near a "quick buck" unity game. It has rich & deep mechanics and lots of features. Most of them lack polish, yes. But the updates are regular.

Also the scenery is great, as Troubleshooter already mentioned. Some planets have really breathtaking landscapes, far better than anything I've seen, for instance, in NMS. Take a look at community screenshots for examples. But sadly, the magic fades when you see NPCs.

Its minecraft in space but the ships you build actually function like space ships. It can be hella addictive if you're tired of endermen stealing your ♥♥♥♥.

There was a really good minecraft in space game called starmade, but I think its mostly dead now, not sure what happened to it. You could build some amazing ships there.

I don't care who made the assets only that the game is satisfying. Just think of it like Poker. They didn't invent the cards, but they invented the game that the cards are playing.

Ha ! First time I heard that one, I said the same thing. Hard to miss that one for sure, if you play 7 days also. It's the spider zombies, to be exact.

But I would guess that is also just a placeholder for now, or hopefully is anyway. Perhaps they will have their own when they get around to finishing the game.

What's wrong with unity, unreal asset? I'm not a game creator, so it does not matter to me, what asset is from lol.

I must say, that even if 50% of the artwork and sounds are copied, then that's pretty good software engineering time and resource saved. I always assumed a lot of, especially the sounds were right out of a box, which is a pity, because I love sound, but do find the sounds a bit "flat", something that is easily solved using a sound engine that livens up and adds atmosphere filters to sounds and randomly boosts or compresses to cut boredom. As for copied graphics, well they do work, although I think a lot of the space fruit are just weird. Mostly I find the armour suits are boring as drying paint.

but it still feels like an entire game built for me once you slap all the "modding" and customization that no other "unity" games have. There is a saying in software companies, "do one thing well"
