Cv to cv what am I doing wrong?
I have to CVS I'm trying to dock together and it's not working. Trying to land one on top of the other. The one trying to land does not have any turrets in the way or any other objects. It's a flat land with for landing gears on top of a flat surface. The base CV does not have anything in the way. It does not have anything else talk to it. It is not docked on anyting. I have tried it with the base CV and with the base CV off. Does anyone have any suggestions I'm what I'm doing wrong. The base CV is even larger damn the docking. I've only tried this in Creative so far. Does the cv to cv not work in creative mode?

CVs to CV docking is not a thing and won't ever be a thing because it can be exploited to massively arm your ships above what is allowed. Same reason you can't have active HV turrets while the HV is docked to anything.

But it is a thing, core does not even have specific craft anymore one type of cord covers all. And I have docked a CV to a CV in the creative mode. On the patch updates you'll see that it was an update docking anything to anything.

By the way, no turret are allowed to work buy a dock vessel when the main vessel is powered in flying

Do ships require a specific amount of landing gear? Or can just one on each Corner work no matter how big the ship is?
Okay, I found it in the A11 update
Supporting now flexible docking between ALL ship types
That's gonna change PvP alot. The CV to CV docking was removed because of that exploit, I can't believe they added it back in.

I read through all the patch notes since then and there was no mention of any changes to docking. Maybe it only work in survival.

I did get it to work in creative.. I've even talked the different CV to the base that I'm trying to talk to. For the life of me I can't figure out why this one will not work. All the landing gear is touching everything is level oh, there's nothing in the way. Essentially what I've done is I've taking one ship that was too big to be spawned in and created two ships out of it. Cutting it in half putting a core in each one, making both of them pliable and trying to connect them. I thought maybe there was an invisible force preventing one from landing on top of the other. But I brought in a new CV and it lands just fine.
the game may think they are still one ship . . .
reboot the game and try again

It might, I saved them both and then re spawned them individually. They both fly individually. The only thing that makes me believe that's the case is that when I spawn them they tend to spawn in space according to where they were when they were attached together. So the top half is up high in the bottom half is down low. But it still strikes me as odd because I can dock another ship on the top where the top have would belong.
Best to just recreate them block by block. I've had to do the same many times, especially when rebuilding really old blueprints from 5 yrs ago.

Is it possible to copy something from one ship and paste it onto another if it's just blocks?
I tried, you can dock a CV on another CV in creative mode.
I don't know what will happened if you rebuild 2 CV

1. both vessels must be same faction public, or private
2. the docking block must be on the extremety of the bounding rectangle/hitbox. In other words if you have a deco block that point outwards past the landing gear, the gear will often not make contact.

Also, you cannot have anything docked to the ship you are attempting to dock. The parent ship yes, the slave no.

Once you dock to a ship you are the slave to it and it can move you. The parent ship can have ships docked; I roll with a parent CV with two SV's one HV and three CV's attached for extra storage.

I can imagine CV to CV docking being a thing. But they could always put a conditional on such docking. IE while these ships are docked, weapon turrets and cannons are unable to fire. Something like that.

Because you see Capitol ships in Sci-fi dock together via docking tubes more often than not pretty frequently.

It is like this already; turrets won't fire from docked vehicles.
