It works like a wifi AP in client repeater mode. In other words, a network extender.

It creates a 100m radius signal around the block and you can chain them, but there is a 500m limit and there's some odd issue that happens if you try to place them in "connect to base" mode.

You usually want at least one on everything except maybe some HVs because otherwise you have to practically be touching a base/vehicle to "connect".

you can use the logistics with f4 to up to 100m when before it was like 10 or something.

So lemme make sure I understand: they went to all this trouble to implement a "remote" logistics system that only works for 100 meters, such that the storage of a base or ship a kilometer or two away is still off limits unless you travel there? What a waste.

More like, you can park a vehicle in the middle of a POI and loot everything straight to it, since most of a POI is within that 100m radius.

I was expecting something like the inventory logistics that was implemented in No Man's Sky's NEXT release, but this is certainly not that.

Today I grabbed a bunch of resource, flew over my base and dumped it all into a base container, then took off again. All done in 15-20 seconds and without landing. Brilliant! :)

It would be cool if it allowed you to access certain parts of the control panel while away from your vessel/base

i feel if im in range i should have some sort of remote control to fly the plane to me

The reason it was implemented was because of heavy items like Warp Drives, to heavy to even put in backpack, so a link to a container, is kinda a must have if you want to be able to ever place that Warp drive anywhere because now its never actually in your inventory so wieght doesnt matter, its a system to get around the problematic heavy devices.

You do... in No Man's Sky. In that game you also get remote transfer access to your freighter in orbit, for instance.

Nope, you do not. You get the oranges but not the apples. Gods forbid that both should ever reside in the same game together! Who would buy next year's game?

You inferred more than NimrodX actually said. He never said it worked by chaining them within the same structure. That was your own addition.
Talonclaw Feb 22, 2019 @ 3:11pm
actually he inferred both realities because he didn't define whether he was talking about a base or a complex of bases.
i merely chose one and assumed that was what he was talking about.
so, conclusive, wifi tower (bases) for the win.
