Extending WiFi Range
Is there a way to do it? I've tried adding more Wireless Connectors but that does not seem to work. Cluebat please.

it's only a 100m range. that's it.

Does moving the device itself move the 100m radius? Like if I build a long causeway and stick the wireless to the end of it can I access WiFi in deep ocean?

Yes I think so from the notes. I think its 100m from the closest wifi. So in my CV i put one in each corner. You can have more than one. Same would apply to a BA/SV/HV.

the 500m max is a bit of a myth for me, i've asked in help channels and had no replies.
I've tried extending the range by putting controllers within 100m of each other, it always fails.
My cv is 130m from my workshop, i have 3 wireless connectors between me and it, can't access it from workshop through f4.
real shame, clips its wings.
The CV has one on the back and one on the front.

hmm I connected one a long distance and it worked before .The water generators were outside wifi range so I just used the connect block feature and placed 1 block down just within wifi limit from the base. Then placed a wifi on that block and I was able to f4 connect and unload to the base storage .

Yep, make WIFI towers for your base to extend your range.
I'll probably upload one into workshop at some point.

Since when could you access Water Generators through WiFi?

Yup, even with multiple WiFi conectors spread out it still seems to be 100m from Base center.

Plant a new base specifically for a wifi tower and cargo containers or other necessities. What I have noticed is, EGS team is implying that you can definitely have and should use more than one base. Think like the Zirax: You need Outposts, Listening Relays, Armoury, Spaceports, Trading Stations, Supply Stations, HQ, Backup HQ, etc. :)

This will start to influence how people design and build their bases, making it so a large base with a building pad or other requirements makes sense and you will be able to access it on site rather than having to do what you're doing now. If you're going out of wifi range, it's because you're working too far away from your base. Plus, the range and the current setup are only temporary, as all things with this game, so I bet the wifi system will improve and I bet you that we will get some other wifi devices like wifi boosters or extenders, which would be super cool.

are we saying that, if you extend wifi range with a secondary base that's within 100metres of your main base.. then the main base will extend to 200metres.

but if u try to extend the main base with more wireless connectors without using more bases, you're basically wee'ing in the wind and will achieve nothing.

so, we have a solution, the 500 metre extendable range is not true unless you use other bases.
ok good to know, ty.

NimrodX

It works like a wifi AP in client repeater mode. In other words, a network extender.
It creates a 100m radius signal around the block and you can chain them, but there is a 500m limit.

No, that thread doesn't "lie". You inferred more than NimrodX actually said. He never said it worked by chaining them within the same structure. That was your own addition, and it was the lie.
Talonclaw Feb 22, 2019 @ 3:11pm
actually he inferred both realities because he didn't define whether he was talking about a base or a complex of bases.
i merely chose one and assumed that was what he was talking about.
so, conclusive, wifi tower (bases) for the win.

Sorry wasnt as specific as intended .I unloaded from the water generator to the container I was locked/connected too through the wifi, and I was like 140 meters from the base .

Used the connect to base debug, went out till just within the limit of the base wifi.Dropped a block (it is connected to the base) and just placed another wifi on that block. That got me the extra range I needed.

I've quoted your comments in the other thread, linking it in this post due to new page.

I find this all very bizarre, i coulda sworn i chain linked them (without debug) within the same base when v9 was released.
