Visionaire supports Linux now. Did the engine change?

Hey Original - hold off on this, we are still sorting out the linux version. The Depot will be empty until it is pushed to the main branch. Now that our Kickstarter is done I can test out the new fix for the linux issue we were having.

Thank you! I will wait, then!

Hi there!
I've just bought the game and tried to install it on my linux machine... that was a faster-than-light downloading, nice! ;) (->EmptySteamDepot)
So i've found this thread and read that the linux verion is off for a moment (too bad, i was eager to give it a try this week-end!). How long will it be still down, if you have an idea?
Thanks!

use the beta. code is torvalds1969 iirc.

@ambidot You enlighten my day, thank you a lot!!

I admit i didn't look the entire thread to see if there were more informations... was this code in it?
If not, it would be cool that it would be easily accessible during the offline period. I bought this game during a sale, and i was a bit disappointed to see that it didn't work... Other new buyers may feel the same, so seeing easily that there is a workaround could be neat!

Thanks again, downloading the game right now, and eager to immerse myself in it!

I have to say that Linux build accessible with that code is unplayable. It has some issues including dialog skips that will ruin your game experience. I would recommend to patiently wait for official Linux build that should come very soon.

Yeah, that beta should really be left well alone, it'll do nothing for you. Here's to hoping a new beta is out soon. :-)

When i realised that i missed some of the dialogues, i stopped playing... Thanks for your posts, guys, at least i won't wait for a hypothetic fix, and i'll patiently wait for the official release.
Still, i'm a bit disappointed to buy a game announced for Linux and to have to wait for a decent version... I bought it on sale, i think i'm not the only one in this case.
Anyway, from the little i could play, i liked the atmosphere, so it's ok, i can wait!

You might need to restart Steam after activating the Beta.

Tested on Ubuntu 16.04

With PPA drivers (ubuntu nvidia drivers and not the nvidia drivers from the nvidia website)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-graphics-drivers-378

etc

I am getting a crash sometimes at the very end of the game but my other Linux testers cannot recreate it, so it may be an outlier - let me know!

So far so good, I will let you know if I get a crash with the game.

Is this new beta recommended for those of us who haven't tried the game yet and are looking to enjoy the story or is it still considered too much of a beta quality product?
The Brotherhood  [developer] Mar 25, 2017 @ 11:09pm
Hi there. It is fully playable but let's wait for somebody to play through and confirm (we have tested it for several months). Apart from the one crash area I haven't had any problems at all but my other testers didn't even get that crash so I am uncertain.

Thanks guys!
I've just tested the game again, i played until the metro thing and it works fine! I have all the dialogs and cinematics. There's a little trouble with sounds, though, sometimes, with white noise and artifacts during some dialogs which almost cover it.
The first one appeared when i discover Yuri. Sound troubles occured during the dialog with Te'ah, and disappeared when i left the area. Just before accessing the metro, troubles too during Te'ah's dialog, disappearing too when entering metro area. It happened two times (game froze because of the steamlayer...). Then no problem with others dialogs until the one after the metro's crash. I stopped playing after that.
I'm pretty sure some other sounds were slightly affected, too.
I'll keep you updated while i advance through the game.
Anyway, it's very nice from you to port your game on Linux, thanks a lot!
