It takes all of a minute to test them both for yourself.

Results are inconsistent at best, so it will be hard for anyone else to determine that for you.

If you use vsync then opengl because Vulkan might stutter. Best just to test
I really cant notice any difference so far
GTX 980Ti and a G-Sync monitor. OpenGL runs smoother here. But yeah, try it for yourself because each case is different.
If you use Vsync its not going to matter much. If you dont you should see a boost in FPS with Vulkan. I have a 1080,openGL was running around 165fps. On Vulkan it stays pegged at 200fps and personally I had no noticeable tearing.

I have a question about g-sync. If im using a monitor with high refresh rate(120-144hz) and my frame rate is running about 120fps will i benefit from enabling g-sync? Right now i rarely see any tearing... I'm still confused a bit about g-sync.
If you are not having problems with tearing then leave it off. Vsync only helps when you are pushing higher fps than your refresh rate. You could try the ADAPTIVE setting. That disables vsync when your fps falls below the refresh rate suposedly.
Gainward GTX 970 Phantom, and play on my TV with Adaptive V-Sync. For me OpenGL runs smoother, with Vulkan there is much stutter even when the Fps counter shows steady 60 Fps.
So i stick with OpenGL.
I could swear the textures like blood specifically is lessened and not as realistic with Vulcan. Also I noticed the shadowing effects are not as good with Vulkan. I am using a 980 Ti with all max settings.

So ultimately since I have to run the game at 60hz I am staying with Open GL 4.5.

Does anyone else notice a change in textures and detail?

ahh i see.. cool, thanks.
Vulkan has much more performance for me (GTX 960).
GTX 970 + i7 6700 and G-Sync. About one year ago OpenGL was better but nowadays I get around 5-10 FPS more with Vulkan. The only drawback is that DOOM dies if I alt-tab.
hey, amd user running the rx580. doom was taking up 100% gpu on ultra, and I switched it to vulkan. now its only taking 20% of my gpu
I'm also runnining it on a 1070. I chose OpenGL because I found that when I use Vulkan, I can't get back into the game after alt-tabbing out. I don't know why this happens.

Everything works fine on OpenGL. But with Vulkan, clicking the minimised game on the task-bar has no effect. I end up having to kill the game with the task-manager. My computer can comfortably run the game on Ultra settings at full resolution with either OpenGL or Vulkan. So the alt-tab thing is the deciding factor for me.
