Vulkan-1.dll missing
Whenever I switch the API to Vulkan, instead restarting the game like it says it does, it just doesnt do anything, and when I try to launch DOOM again in my library it says:
DOOM 18% 0kbs i tried viewing game local content and tried to open the DOOMx64vk file and it says"The program can't start because vulkan-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." now obviously I dont want to reinstall doom that ♥♥♥♥ takes forever, and I actually reinstalled it recently bc I restored my pc. Can I get some help fixing this? Ive been wanting to use vulkan to see if i can get a boost for my fps. (Im under the recommended but doom was on summer sale kappa)

Under the games property try verifying the games cache. Hope this helps in sorting the issue.

I'm assuming you've updated your GPU's drivers recently? That dll should be a part of the GPU driver package. If you aren't using the latest version of the drivers, update. If you are, try reinstalling the latest driver package for your GPU.

I just tried reinstalling the latest driver package maybe its because my GPU is out of date and under the recommended? its a AMD A10-5745M APU with Radeon(tm) HD graphics.

You don't have a dedicated GPU. THAT'S why you can't use Vulkan. If this game ever even started on your curent rig, I'd be shocked. There's no where near enough horsepower to make it work.

Yeah... I don't think such an obsolete igpu arch is compatible with the newer APIs.

With my laptop the game runs around 15-28 fps depending on whats happening and mostly smoke and particle effects are what makes it drop, the classic maps runs smoothly at 30 fps. Thanks for the input I was kinda expecting thats what it was because when I tried installing the AMD Radeon software crimson edition the installer said my version isnt compatible. guess I'll just have to wait till I can buy this rig http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CsYPsJ

Oh dear god dude, don't get that CPU. It's not worth nearly that much, and if you plan on doing a lot of gaming it will hold you back in so many ways.

Also as someone with an EVGA power supply I really can't recommend an EVGA power supply, had to RMA mine multiple times for various reasons.

Oh alright thanks for the feedback I really appriciate what do you recommend for a cpu?

Due to the present conditions the advice is generally the "newest and best Intel CPU you can reasonably afford". That may change when AMD finally gets their upcoming architecture "Zen" to the market, but as it currently stands their CPUs/mobos generally have poor performance and may even be missing some compatibility with newer technologies.
jordyexists 5 AGO 2016 a las 10:25
Yeah, I can't recommend that AMD processor either, for the same reasons Erebus said (lack of compatibality with new hardware, poor performance.) Wait until AMD releases its Zen processors or go with an Intel 6700k and compatible motherboard IMO. Either way, I'd put off buying a new computer for a couple of months until AMD releases Zen, because even if it isn't a great architecture, it is still likely to cause Intel to slash their CPU prices, which are currently way over-priced. However, I have high hopes for AMD's Zen CPUs; they look like they could offer great performance for a good price.... but we'll have to see once they're released.

Also, that GPU is not worth buying; it is outdated and will give you poor performance out of the box, and worse performance in years to come. The AMD RX480 is a far better option, or, if you want an Nvidia GPU, the 1060 seems decent. Both are fairly low cost (>$300 USD) and will be useful for a few years.

I would personally recommend the RX480 8 GB model over the 1060 due to how poorly the x60 series of Nvidia's GPUs tend to age versus AMD GPUs; the 480 with 8 GB of VRAM should give decent performance for a number of years. If money is extremely tight you can save around $50 by buying a 4GB VRAM version of the 480, but considering the overall cost of building a PC and the ever-increasing VRAM requirements of new games, I'd recommend spending the extra money.

EDIT: Also, why did you choose to go with 32 GB of RAM? 16 GB should be more than enough. Keep in mind you'll also have to pay more for RAM if you go with the Intel CPU as it uses DDR4 memory, but 16 GB of DDR4 RAM will still cost much less than 32 GB of DDR3.

I wasnt planning on buying it soon so waiting for AMD Zen is probably the best option for me, tbh dont know why I wanted 32 gb of ram (maybe just because i had enough slots on the motherboard?). I dont know a lot about internals so I just went off with my knowledge with a little bit of research, its my first build on a desktop. thanks for the advice, really appriciate the help everyone :D

Got the same error. I was doing my semi-monthly uninstallation of various tools that were needed only once which included clearing out bloatware. I had seen vulkan before but always decided to leave ti be for whatever reason. This time I decided to get rid of it. Not less than a week later I decided to load up Doom (which I had not played since before Vulkan was available) and discovered and thus wanted to try vulkan.

Tried verifying games cache, doesn't work. I have completely purged graphics drivers and reinstalled several times recently for other reasons and it hasn't seemed to replace Vulkan. Gonna try it one more time with the full Geforce experience and everything. If that doesn't work my next option is to reinstall Doom.

Not a huge deal as I can still play just fine in opengl 4.5 API mode but now that I'm aware of Vulkan it's really gonna irritate me until I get this worked out.

poor man's gaming rig:
Intel i5-4460
960 GTX
