No PC Disc Key?
I bought DOOM through a store as a disc, got home with it and cannot find the disc key. Any ideas?

Do physical discs actually have a 'key' anymore? Doesn't it just prompt you on how to download from steam?

Serious question. I haven't bought a physical PC game since before Windows Vista...but what happens when the disc is loaded?

According to steam it prompts you to enter a CD Key, dont know if my box is missing something or what not, but it isnt there, I even inserted a code on the disc I found right underneath the ESRB Rating. :/ :steamsalty:
I mean, is the game not installing? Is it not downloading from Steam? (The game is only partially on the disc. You still have to let Steam download the rest for the full install.) Is that process not automatic?

I'm guessing they want you to insert a disc key to prompt the installation?
Do they? I'm asking. Have you actually tried going through installation or are you holding off because you can't find the key?

Steam needs you to have the key before it starts any type of installation.

Bethesda just replied to my email stating that the retailer needs to replace the game for me.
Did you ever try to just install it though? If they said you need to replace it then you do I guess. Sorry to hear that.

I have the physical copy and the key should be on the manual. If you cant find your's anywhere then yeah you might have to return it for another sealed copy.

ah ok then, yeah if its supposed to have a key, and doesn't...it'll be up to the retailer. I just thought that key was embedded on the disc or something these days...

Looks like one of those questionable steam key sites has what was supposed to be included with your disc...

That would suck indeed. Hopefully its just a factory error and his manual wasn't included or the key wasn't printed on it. I've had this issue before where the white space supposed to contain the key was just a blank space.

Definitely take it back to retailer and I'm sure they'd be glad to replace it. However if they don't, send Steam support another email explaining everything, they might ask for pictures of the manual or disc, etc to prove there is indeed no key and that you do own a copy, and in that case they probably will give you one themselves. Either way you have every right to complain as you cant use the product you paid for.

They did, in the store someone said they have people come in with games like that all the time. The employes feel like someone is swiping them when they come off the truck. I thought something was off about it because it was wrapped in a different wrap then normal. All is well though bc I just got a replacement. :steamhappy:
