The original Doom games never had any horror. And even if they did, they are all vanished for the simple fact you were Doomguy and never cared for anything but the slaughter. The slaughter is what made Doom fun and exciting, and this game delivers on that.

If you are referring to Doom 3, on its own it's not a bad game and does hold up well on some areas, but as a Doom game, not so much at all.

Classic Doom was "spook" because you were 25 years younger when it came out.

If you are getting board in Doom 2016, turn the difficulty up some. If that doesn't help, it's not the game for you.

I'm seeing this guy respond to many threads saying that the game is boring because it doesn't have jumpscares/isn't horror. I'm starting to think he's another troll.

If you're not, why are you calling the game repetitive? The originals were repetitive, yet were still mindless fun.

Well the game is repetative. ?

Originals were repetative but they were something new back in those days. And they had those moments you never forget. Lights go off and demons start to growl.

Well. It is nice if some people like it. It has good gameplay mechanics and visuals.
But in my opinion they are little waisted when game offers you just horde after horde.
its boring because youre in gamer autopilot overload, you get a new game play it two weeks and arent satisfied, games come n go so fast, this shooter that shooter one after the other

but if you compare this doom to the doom of 93, id ♥♥♥♥ my pants if i got to play this back then its really amazing and im sure theyre not done updating entirely

oh and i see you wrote a bad review for the game and havent even foudn the bfg yet.. silly /\/igger

Just saw the review, and it deserves another :steamfacepalm:.

Why are you blaming this game for not having horror and story when the originals didn't have any of those?

I see that you don't have the original Doom games in your library. I'm guessing you didn't play them for a few years. Go buy and play those for a little while and then come back to this game. You'll see many similarities. And by the way, the originals are actually more repetitive than the new one because all you pretty much do is shoot demons, find keycards to open doors, and look for secrets. Not only does the new one have these elements, but it also has upgrade systems, and data logs that tell you a little bit of a story. Do you even look for these things?

You also don't seem to have Doom 3. You should get it, because it's obviously the perfect game for you.

Why are you honestly expecting something life-changing? This kind of review has been done before and it is subjectively unfair considering that not a single Doom fan cares for immersion. If you expect immersion in ANY Doom game, you are fooling yourself.

I know I am coming off as a bit rude here, but you get older, you start to learn some things. It seems you are sticking to some false nostalgia, as most actual Doom fans never cared about the "horror" aspects of the game.

Those "moments" are best remembered with the player feeling like someone awesome and powerful, not some "oh so spooky cyberdemon aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa no hope!!!!!" It goes more like this "Oh ♥♥♥♥ it's that stupid Cyberdemon I am going to ♥♥♥♥ him up my rocket! Damn I'm good!"

But wouldn't playing a game he already played be.... repetitive?

Yes, that applies to all games. It's how we enjoy it so much that makes replaying it just enjoyable and so much fun. And yes, DOOM is repetitive and doesn't have much to show, but there's nothing wrong with it as the average Doom player only cares for the action and thrill, nothing else.

It's Doom, you either come and stay for the slaughter or you don't come at all.

Yeah.... no kidding.... I was making reference to OP's aversion to reptitive games.

By all means, I'm not saying that the new one is better. In fact, I like the originals more, but you have to understand that Doom (2016) wasn't trying to be another generic shooter with story rubbed in your face with cutscenes every few minutes. Nor was it trying to be another Doom 3 with several jumpscares here and there.

It was trying to be like the classics while keeping a few modern elements, and in my opinion, did it perfectly.

I mean, would you rather have something like this?

From a storyline persective, I would enjoy seeing a progression towards a Hell on Earth episode. It would make sense that the demons would look upon the earthlings as their primary threat to infiltrating this dimension. However, I would fear it would usher in a Fallout/Battlefield experience that would take away the intensity and pure bloodlust and replace it with endless hours of searching or reaching goals while playing with teams of Leroy Jenkins. I love arena FPS but I would like to see a more open world design though. I was never a fan of loading screens, so having that seemingly seamless world design would be refreshing.
