Run! is obnoxious
I was enjoying the game (what little of it I've played, so far) until my escape from the village. Now, I've died more times than I care to recall, and I'm no longer sure its worth the frustration. Yes, I know how to handle the horse, but no, I can't manage to zig-zag back and forth while still following the road. I die just as the town comes into view, every time.

I'll give it a few more tries, then uninstall. I can't afford this much hard drive space for a game I can't play.

Make no mistake: I still hate that "quest" with a passion. The fact that I managed to finally get past it doesn't change that. I'm up to trying to get out of the castle and back to my home town now. It has an interesting story and characters, but I'm not in love with the game yet.

Keep in mind that the first few hours are kinda "on rail", so I'd suggest to play some more until you finally make your mind about that game. Have fun either way though.
Kingdom come has a very slow pace to it and it will take you dozens of hours to get use to it. First few hours of the game is extremely slow, difficult and annoying. You're not meant to be good at the game early on (supposedly reflected by the character you're playing: Henry). Expect to die a lot and suck at combat. The more you play, the more you'll get use it. I didn't die a lot in Run, considering how easy it was, but combat imo was incredibly stagnant and I hated the locking mechanism. Eventually I got use to it, and I don't mind it so much.

Tbh, this game isn't for everyone. But for a lot more who didn't try it out yet!
Maybe it'll ignite for you! If it does, you'll have a very good time!!!

It doesn't hold your hand like a typical mainstream title --> you have to remind yourself about "realism" in a certain way and look out for advice given. When the story moves on, you'll get the chance to train combat. DO THAT!!! It's hard and confusing in the beginning but you'll get to a point where you'll become fluent.
Quests will fail for different reasons. Don't be mad about it. Just go on. But keep in mind: when a quest giver tells you to do something urgently, you don't go off chasing rabbits in the woods --> some quests are invisibly timed --> but you'll understand if you listen carefully!
Let the game work you ;). Get immersed and be patient!

KCD reminded me of rpgs of early 2000. Like Gothic 1 and Morrowind but made with modern methods. Technically it has a lot of depth! Most bugs from the beginning are ironed out. Those glitches still remaining were hilariously funny to me!
It has it's own unique charm and is a true gem!

Hopefully you get to like this title!

I found it ridiculously easy in normal mode, once I learned to simply let the horse follow the road on its own while I double tapped SHIFT and used my arrow key to essentially dig the spurs in. On hardcore mode I kept on bleeding out until I tried cutting the corner at that left to Talmberg (I guess the Cuimans stayed on the road ?). Gave me just enough of a lead. I suspect the OP isn't really going full gallop and is getting shot to pieces.

I tried full gallop. The horse kept ending up in the river.
Gallop under your control in a straight line (only), canter under the horse's control when you need to go around a curve.

If you try to gallop around a curve you'll end up in a ditch. If you take the whole run at a canter you'll bleed to death, but probably get caught first.

Run! is not that hard to do if you think about it clearly and act very deliberately. The main thing is to go as fast as you can but stay calm. You probably don't have the hang of how to handle a horse at speed at this point, so you should avoid trying.

This isn't Mount & Blade where horsemanship depends on the player alone. There are horsemanship skills which have a small effect on a few things like whether or not you get knocked off your horse. Keep your actions simple and don't try to do anything fancy. Much later in the game there's a cross-country horse race, and by then you'll have ridden enough to know how to pull out all the stops.
I tap the L and R arrows the mouse is totally useless when riding a horse for me.
Hold the W with L hand then right hand uses arrows between the numpad and the main keys. Little finger tap the Ctrl I think to auto gallop or just hold little finger on shift with W release W to go round corner with right hnd on L and R arrow
I can definitely see that it's frustrating. Before that point, the player can learn a few mechanics (lockpicking, sneaking, combat) without any danger, and now all the sudden one is confronted with a completely new mechanic - horse riding - while being chased by multiple vastly superior hostiles. The fact that the horse uses tank controls that take a time getting used to certainly doesn't help! And the player doesn't even know the area so it's confusing when you don't know where to go. So yeah I died a couple times too.
The easiest fix would be a horse in the tutorial area so that the player can practice a little.

^THIS^
I`m on hardcore, jump on horse, turn and run toward teresa getting attacked, as soon as it says you saved her zoom away down road , soon as your out way of foot soldiers slow down gain stamina, next part ride as fast as you can left up hill into trees and forest , sort of along road but not to close, steer left and right through trees you will start to lose some following you on horse back , you need to keep speed up allowing horse to slow a bit to get tiny bits of stamina, after a while last one should get stuck in trees, slow to let horse walk slowly in to next castle cut scene, you get hit by one arrow in leg you can `t do anything about its part of story. ( there is a sort of route but i haven t mapped it ,it would spoil game) This was my answer to the long ride to castle being chased takes me at worst 3 goes if i had a few beers. It does say you can finish quests in different ways .

This quest is very easy.

When you are fleeing from the cumans just jump across the small stream on your side and voila you have lost them. That´s it!

If they manage to catch up again repeat it and jump across the small stream again and guess what you have lost them again.

So walk down the hill, whistle for your horse, ride along a path and jump over a little stream one maybe two times to loose these cuman morons. That´s it.

Of course it's easy if you know what you're doing, especially if you know the geography and AI limitations and exploit them.
But that's like saying 'it's easy to ride a bicycle.' Not true for someone who tries for the first time.

I have got a horse and people who chase me so I use every possible way to get rid of them and it doesn´t take a rocket scientiest to come up with the idea to go through the woods and use obstacles to make it harder for the AI to follow you. There is nothing wrong with that.

My point is this mission is quite easy with a tiny bit of creativity.
