First Boss Unbeatable?

So I get to PAX. I hit him until the orange bar fills up, then he goes into "Cooldown" mode, then I hit him and his actual HP goes down. Then no matter how many more times I try to beat him, even when the orange bar is full, he never goes into the cooldown mode and I can't actually damage him. Is this a bug or am I missing something here?

you have two options:

1) Bait missiles into him when he launches, so he stuns himself

2) Hit his other leg when he's trying to stomp you.

going by loading screen tips I suspect beating him without using option 1 gets you a better version of his drop, idk tho.

There's only five bosses so expect a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just to make them artificially difficult

hes not going into cooldown mode when you charge that orange bar hes going to launch rockets just be underneath him before the first salvo rains down.

Yeah, I figured out the rocket thing and it still didn't drive him into cooldown. Then I restarted the game and suddenly everything works.

I died. At least 10 times on this boss - after ten I stopped counting, picked myself up and went back in there. yeah I know, I'm terrible with a controller and this probably wasn't the game to start learning. But I'm learning!

How I finally beat it, was first making sure I was locked on to it. Otherwise I was just swinging, jumping and sliding towards walls. AND I had to stay behind it. If you stay in front, you're gonna get kicked, stepped on, and slashed really bad almost every time. Just twice from any of these and you're basically dead unless you're quick about using a health implant.

Once behind, just start whacking! The orange bar will fill up, which apparently means it's ready to launch some super attack, likely the rockets (http://steamcommunity.com/app/378540/discussions/0/1333474229082191513/).

As Eyune noted, you're probably better off under it when this happens. And then it should collapse from overheating, you can start whacking the mid section, and some armor comes off.

Again, get behind it, rinse and repeat like two more times. Just stay behind it and you should get past this one.

It does. This applies to all bosses, break all of their body parts to get a better weapon version.

It wasn't a hard fight. It just bugged out on me for some ungodly reason. I've beaten it on the first try after restarting the game and having the boss switch phases properly.

Ok, so thus far I have PAX Imperator and Firebug Throttle 2.0. Everyone else get same? I didn't do much with PAX, but I made sure to break off every one of Firebugs legs. The final one was a pain in the bum since it's always kept away from you.

Ditto on the firebug 2.0. I expect if you didn't bust all the legs it'd just be firebug throttle or something.

I don't know how to bust stuff off the PAX, considering the legs are impervious. Can you knock the arms off?

Well, I did notice during the stun phase you could smash open various armour on the main body. I never attempted to be systematic about it though, or attempt the arms during that phase.

Strange. I think I did the battle badly and got the PAX Imperator, but no Firebug Throttle 2.0.

thanks man will give this ago, bit salty losing 10k part to the hammer dude and gundrone in the sewers part then when tryting to go back there i ran into this boss, been hitting wall since the missles keep bopping me
