Final Fantasy IX: The Last Good Final Fantasy Game™
Seriously, people praise X but I could never stand it. Every single thing that is currently wrong with the franchise can be traced back to X. Tidus was and is the most annoying character in the entire franchise, blitzball was the worst mini game of all time, and it was just so boring... it's been all downhill since. Looking forward to reliving the last good FF game.

Maybe some kind of archetypus, Ronon in sg-atlantis is nearly of the same type.

I've liked every final fantasy (main series games) so far. Played them all except for FF6 and the MMO 11/14.

I will say that the combat/character progression of FFXIII was complete garbage (like FFX-2 with AIDS/Cancer/Ebola combined) but the story was great and worth playing through. I vastly prefer the turn-based/ATB combat of FF1 through 10, however for some reason I still found FF12 combat enjoyable and it had a fantastic character progression system.

IX is definetly my favorite and I really don't have a reason why. I guess its just a neat little ball of everything good-- characters + development, gameplay (only forced trance got a frown from me), music, and theme. v nice v nice.

I did like X's theme and gameplay (everything else was pretty ehh), X-2's gameplay was so much fun even though i dont get why Yuna got a gun and why Shadow the Hedgehog became a girl with a sword. and don't kill me please, but I actually really liked every character in XIII except for Snow. Yeah, even Vanille. The only negative in that game for me was it being so linear. I think I just blow SE too much.

FFIX is pretty much the last truly great FF game that's traditionally structured and the last really good FF game till XII came around. X and X-2 had great combat but terrible structure and pacing and story and so on. XI was an MMO, albeit one of the better ones. XIII is the same as X but it doesn't pretend to not be a hallway, but hey it's sequels were OK.

PS. FFXII IZJS on PC WHEN, Squeenix?

X doesn't pretend it either, it's clear you just walk hallways. The battlesystem in X is nice, except x-2 where you have to change cloth in the middle of a battle - that's wierd, at best.
but what makes me really replay X is the Monster-arena, that one should be a classic and integrated in all ffs.

IZJS is worse than the original system

IZJS basically fixed my complaints about the Licence board in the normal version.
It also threw in a speed up button as a bonus.

They should probably give it as an option though to use the job boards or the original.

lol wut 13 was the one... 10 was where they started going in a different direction but i think thats cuz they wanted to have voicew acting and other cinematic stuff.

10 was more linear and other things but it had the most fun post game imo.

i love maxing out characters in FFs. i guess you can imagine im gunna get disgaea as well lol.

X suited being linear, the whole plot was built around a pilgrimage which doesn't exactly give the characters loads of time to goof off.

It's actually a pet peeve of mine when they give you a super important goal, and then just let you wander freely without actually working toward it. Fallout 4's plot fell down because of that imo.

That was like at the very start of FO4, so it's kinda funny that the plot falls over so quickly. I'm sure there's only a handful of people who actually made the main plot line their main focus.

All the fallout games are like that...

Less so than Fallout 4. Fo3 gave you an important task, but you were never insanely rushed to complete it. Learning about the wasteland was more important than finding your father. FNV was just a revenge plot.

Then don't wander off. No one is forcing you to not treat it urgently. Why force others to play as you would? Many RPGs would be strictly confined if they were designed like that.
