Analog sticks required?
Does this game use the controller's analog sticks for anything? I have an old PS1 controller with no analog sticks. Thanks.

2nd how the hell would u hook up a ps1 controller to pc???

I have an adapter like this:

http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/pc/pc_psxusb.htm

The controller is one of the original pre-Dual Shock PS1 controllers. The adapter sometimes detects "phantom" input signals from the missing analog sticks, which could pose a problem. I will have to test it myself to see whether it works properly in FFIX. If, not I will have to buy a new controller.

I tested, and the controls seem to work fine. Some of the buttons are out of order, however, when compared to the game manual. I guess I will need to customize them.

As an aside, only being able to save the game when I encounter a Moogle is a drag. I wish I could save anywhere.

:(

even if your controller didnt work, im sure a new one wouldn't be much. for me the buttons are listed as a xbox 360 controller, when im using a ps4 controller lol but i got use to it.

Yea saving the game only at moogles can be a pain. but once you get use to it, its not that bad.
just have to plan ahead, like i dont play before i go into work, i wait untill im home for the night.

Yeah, the next thing I was going to ask was whether I could change this.

i don't think it can be changed, atleast i'm not aware of a way. but on the plus side, circle and triangle are your main buttons for ff9

The game does not detect the SELECT and START buttons on the controller, and remaps those commands to the shoulder triggers with no way to change them.

I'm looking for third-party tools that will allow me to bypass the game and remap the controller buttons from there.

Joytokey or xpadder are your friends but really, friend, you should buy yourself either a ps4 or a Xbox one controller. :)

I bought a DS4 controller. It is nice, but it doesn't enable the audio jack when running wirelessly.
