Help asked for translations
Hello,
As you may know, I have done a mod that adds Beatrix to the game, with cutscenes and all, plus a few gameplay changes and the re-activation of a few dummied content of the game.

For now, the mod only works with the English version, but I want to release an international version. I have thus translated the added content in the other languages supported by the game (Japanese, German, French, Italian and Spanish) but, because I have little to no knowledge in these languages and mostly did that with auto-translating, I'm afraid that there are errors and incomprehensible sentences in these translations.

So, if you speak any of these languages, could you be kind enough to check whether there are issues with these translation? You'd get my eternal gratitude :D

You can see the translations here in a (hopefully) convenient way:

I am available for any question you have regarding this script but, in general, you should see that I've tried to fit with the work of the original translators, syntax-wise.

Thank you for reading.

EDIT: I had to change how it displays because dropbox html previews are not as good as I thought, sorry ^^'

Are you basing your translations on other parts of the game or some other source or what? Because 'fight honourably, you thieves' becomes 'how is it/that possible?' in your French translation. Also, a lot of the French sentences seem to randomly end with question marks.

For the European languages, if you were using Google Translate, try using DeepL instead. It's far superior, though obviously still imperfect. No Japanese support though.

Thank you for your feedback.
I used Google Translate, Yandex and (for isolated words) wordreference.
I did based the translations on other parts of the game, to check how someone refers to someone/something else and keep it consistent. However, for the example you give, the choice was mostly because I was not satisfied with a litteral translation of both sentences (this one and the one before come together). I was not especially willing to use litteral translations everytime anyway.

I am french so, unless I've made typos, that translation should be consistent. I don't think that I've added more question marks in french than in other languages ^^'

And I widely used the italian translation that FF8Fan wrote and has put on youtube. It really was a nice job and helped me a lot.

So I mostly am interested in a verification of the japanese translation.

However, I'll update the mod quite soon (this evening if I successfully fix a bug with Ozma) so it would be better for me to have feedback on the japanese soon (I don't like to update files too often for hotfixes).

Regarding that one line:
The Queensmeal is an Alexandrian speciality

Did you use a Q-accent for the German translation on purpose?

You mean the umlaut on the ö of "Königinnenpudding"?
Yes it was on purpose, because it is present on the other reference to that meal (there is only one line, though, so it could be a typo of the german translation).

Quina has this question in Cleyra:
Die Spetschialität Alekschandriasch, Königinnenpudding, die gibt esch hier wohl nicht, mampf!?

Let me rephrase. Quina speaks with an accent. S/he might say:
Die Spetschialität Alekschandriasch, Königinnenpudding, die gibt esch hier wohl nicht, mampf!?
but in proper German, (which the Ragtimer might use in his question), it would sound more like:
Die Spezialität Alexandrias, Königinnenpudding, die gibt es hier wohl nicht, mampf!?

I just wanted to know if you kept that accent on purpose, if not, I will adjust that line for you into proper German.

Also, for the Beatrix Dialogue: When is she refering to a single or multiple people? "You" can be interpreted for both scenarios, it cannot be determined from the line alone.
Tirlititi Jul 4, 2018 @ 1:00pm
Ah ok! No, I didn't want to make the Ragtimer sounds like a Qu. Thanks for telling me!
So, a proper question would be:
Der Königinnenpudding ist eine Spezialität von Alexandria.
Or do you suggest something else?

For Beatrix, she refers to a single person in these sentences (but use "Sie" instead of "Du"):
Beatrix: Ich verstehe... Ich kann euch nicht beschuldigen nach dem, was ich euch und euren Freunden angetan habe.
Beatrix: Habt Sie ihre Meinung geändert?

She uses "Du" when adressing to Eiko, Quina or Steiner, but uses "Sie" for Zidane (and Dagger but I don't think the situation occurs). However, starting from Pandemonium's event, I would say that she should be less formal toward Zidane.

So now that I see it again, these sentences should probably be with "Du" actually:
Beatrix: Sie möchten wirklich jedem Ihrer Feinde die Möglichkeit geben, zu sühnen?
Beatrix: Übertreibe es nicht, [ZIDANE].

About the line in the Earth Shrine, I was not sure that a formal speech would fit. I've kept "vous" in french and I stand by that decision because it doesn't sound weird coming from her. Since I was doubtful for the german translation (and avoided the problem for spanish), I've turned it to the casual form, but I would appreciate your thoughts:
Beatrix: Du hast Ihre Majestät an einen Ort wie diesen geschickt?!

I hope that it was clear. Thank you for your help :)

I find it pretty hard to determine at what point you want to swich her speech pattern from formal to causal. I am just checking the Pandemonium event and she casually talks to Zidane. But I think I read some lines that appear later in the story (but earlier in your script) where she formaly adresses him. For consistency's sake I keep her formal speech pattern as of now. In fact, the Pandemonium event could be the point where she finally talks casually to him, but that isn't for me to judge.
