Desert Palace Candle bug - How to solve?

So I just noticed that I couldn't activate the last candle to fight the boss, and upon closer investigation, on the library, there are multiple floors that you need to go in, but I didn't.

I merely lit the candles on the main part of thelibrary and then went to save on the moogle and moved on, even though there are apparently two candles that need to be lit behind the bookshelf of the mid floor.

When I went back, the bookshelves were closed and all the candles are unresponsive, leaving me unable to open the bookshelves. Is there a solution to this problem?

Yes I did, and I did the shadow puzzle and climbed the stairs, and the final candle to fight the boss has no prompt.

I did not do this: 'enter through the raised bookshelf.
Next area, go to your left and light the candles whilst proceeding to your left~up the stairs. Light the candle'

Because the only bookshelf I went through was on the ground floor. The bookshelf on the second floor is closed and all candles in the library are lit and unresponsive.

But is there something I can do, or is the save game permanently broken?

No luck there. Just 1 save game file and it was with the moogle in question. Is it possible to edit the save game file or the game in some way to trigger the fight?

I actually remember breaking the Desert Palace candles back on the PS1 version. I'm just glad I was in the habit of rotating save files.

I just figured this out!

what you have to do is go back to the library and extinguish the candle on the bottom right. That will lower the bookcase from the 2nd floor to the first. You can then go through that door and go all the way to the top of the stairs there to activate the last candle (see link below for picture).

TL;DR Thought I soft-locked my game; almost started playing FF XV.
