First problem, the game keeps crashing! I'll have a set up to do auto-battles while I'm having a bath or eating or whatever, and I'll come back and the game has crashed...
Second problem, I had this set up going fairly well (despite crashes) and I got to like 7.3k, and now it won't proceed any farther... It's like the counter is stuck...
My time in game has gone over 99:99, so now it's at like 12:00 something, but it's red, I guess showing I went over time. Do kills not register after 99:99? If so, that's stupid, because it's pretty much mandatory to have dozens of hours of grinding for this... Very annoyed by this right now. Terrible achievement...
Kills keep counting past 100 hours- the timer just changes color every 100 hours to show the total playtime, as opposed to stopping at 99:59. And no, you can't overflow the timer by 100 hours to get the Excalibur II. The timer does overflow, but it takes about 2 and a quarter years of runtime.
It is a pretty terrible achievement though.
Actually, I've been going for like 20+ game hours now since the crash, and it still hasn't gone past the 7.3k... I'm going to be so mad if something is corrupted with the save or whatever...
Does this make sense; if I use SAM to delete the progress on the achievement back to zero, will the tracker then go back to what it presently is at? Or will it actually kill my progress and possibly wreck stuff?
Calm down man. You sound like sqaure-enix ruined your life over one little achiement. You are way too serious.
Achievments were brought into video games for people to do only if they want to. it seems like they've taken over peoples lives because now they go as far as hating a dev over one achievement that they don't like lmao.
Gamers these days are rediculous.
EDIT:
You only have 116 hours on FF9 steam? i highly doubt you got the achievement even ONCE. I actually grinded for 10,000 kills on FF8 and I'm at 170 HRs on steam for FF8 and 95 hours in game because I stopped saving my game at some point during the grind since every kill you get auto-syncs to steam anyway.
it seems like you just can't accept that you need to cheat to get something that you aren't capable of getting legitmately.
Wow no need to be so rude to a complete stranger.
The achievement actually is broken for me, as I explained through my comment above. I did everything totally legit, but it's hard to get the achievement if the counter is broken. I was at 7.3k, and then grinded for another 20+ hours, doing nothing but battles, without it going up even one kill. I see no reason for you to insult people that get annoyed at broken achievements. And so what if I exaggerated my annoyance.
Also, I have a friend that got this achievement with less hours than me (104 hours for 100%, dont legitimately). Don't know how your math works out, but 120 hours is overkill to get 100% on this game. Also, whatever you're doing in FF8 doesn't really matter considering this is FF9, and either way, you have 95 hours in game, and got to 10k, but somehow I have 120 and that's not enough to get 10k kills? I'm confused.
Achievements are meant to be something that you work for and can be proud that you achieved legitmately. If you don't earn an achivement legit than what is the purpose? Just so you can have it unlocked? I really don't get the logic of cheaters.
Sorry about my english and thanks in advance
I hope you are being honest. If you are being honest than I apologize. I compared FF8 to FF9 for the 10k achievement because they both use the same battle system. Infact, FF9s battle system is actually slower than FF8s. I also farmed on cactaurs for mine and got 3-4 cactaurs to kill every round while watching streams on twitch and videos on youtube. So I was training pretty quick and for some reason your time is alot lower than mine but I guess the auto-battle function in FF9 helps speed things up alot since you dont have to input commands manually. That's a huge time saver now that I think about it because it makes multi-tasking more efficient since you have less commands to worry about in the game.
I'm almost done with FF8 and can't wait to get started on 9. Congrats on your achievement if it truly was bugged and you earned it legit.
After that I did a fully boosted playthrough just to try it out, which took about 3 hours and picked up the Excalibur II for a 65 hour playtime all achievements.
With boosters the whole way through the game I suspect a 35-40 hour completion time wouldn't be too difficult to manage.
Yes the 10K kills was first introduced when FF8 was released for steam. It ended up getting negative feedback and for some reason square decided to bring it back again with FF9.
which means square either didn't read fan feed back or they read fan feedback and decided to give the fans a big middle finger when they reintroduced it as an achievement in FF9. Square-enix trolls! lol
I think it's a stupid achievement too but what can you do? :c
If you ever decide to replay FF8 and get it for steam... you may want to check out these amazing mods to boost your graphics. If you need any help installing the mods I made a tutorial on YT.
