There are robots that are immune to the perk, like codsworth, but for the most part you should be able to hack any robot you can get close enough to.
Also this.
You go from being able to to craft only the few parts that actually drop from robots to having the entire range of parts available, as long as you have the Robotics Expert ranks required to craft them.
enemy assaultron in your face? hack it and make it kill it's own allies, set it to self destruct or shut it down and then destory it with gunfire.
Firepower > Gimmicks
Only useful if using mods to have more fun with robots that you made.
And I think I've hacked a robot once... All in all, this perk is right up there with "Leadbelly", unless someone can teach how to use it to me.
So a perk point for a few robots?
I've even restored control without destroying a single turret or robot in the Galactic Zone, though ironically I wasn't even using Robotics Expert for that (even if it would have made it easier).
I'm taking the game slowly. I want to get as much done in the game, get as many adventures in as possible, before I progress the main quest or do anything that restricts my options. I know that I can't keep that up forever, but I want to cross any points of no return knowingly. Thanks again, all
Only if you have stealth.
Otherwise it will be useless. Well, for mechanist it will be anyways.
