Capital Wasteland Project - It Lives!
I honestly thought this mod project was quietly abandoned, but turns out it isn’t.

Not only that, but just recently, they unveiled a nice look at their next major release: a full recreation of Fallout 3’s The Pitt DLC

https://youtu.be/nD5mn70PNyQ?si=XYwZYo-np5yLh5g7

It’s been forever since I played FO3 and this DLC, definitely looking forward to it, and it sounds/looks like they’re nearly done with it - they just need to finish up some missing voice acting, polish up some areas, etc. Sounds like it’s entirely possible we may see this hit Nexus some time within the next few months.

That makes 3 of the DLCs they’ve done now (Point Lookout, Project Zeta, The Pitt). I wonder if they’ll even bother with Operation Anchorage (I kinda remember that DLC being a bit underwhelming) and Broken Steel. Both of those involved the Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts IIRC, and Broken Steel featured the Enclave and was very much connected to not only the Capital Wasteland but the story of the Lone Wanderer.

The Outcasts were folded back into the BoS under Arthur Maxson, and it would be fairly challenging to adapt the events of Broken Steel for FO4 as the Outcasts don’t exist anyone, the Enclave is either gone for good or so beat up they’ve gone into hiding and aren’t a threat anymore, and in general it would require such a significant rewrite that it just wouldn’t be Broken Steel anymore.

Maybe they’ll combine the two somehow and use OA’s concept of a virtual reality simulation to have you relive the events of Broken Steel as the LW in order to unlock some kind of facility or something.

I think Project Mojave - the mod trying to add a fully realized and content rich Mojave Wasteland - is actually defunct though.

I found out about The Pitt and CWP’s continued existence via a video released recently covering all the major updates from similar projects and PM wasn’t featured.

Fallout 4 - New Vegas (the mod trying to remake NV in FO4’s engine) is apparently still active though.

As are the mods seeking to remake FO1 and 2, and the one trying to recreate 76’s world but at the time of FO4.

I wonder how Miami is doing too, there’s some questions about whether or not that one has sunk too.

Literally 2 full years without a peep. My trust in this is ... eh. Looks fine, but. Like, 2. Full. Years.

No communication. Trust gone long ago. If and when it actually comes out, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

They won't get shut down, there's been ample opportunity to do so. I've usually surmised that the crew of modders - some of which have stated on other forums and internet areas that it's the case - that they were 'hired' by whoever, be it Bethesda or some other company, and thus cannot finish work that would easily outstrip the actual company's abilities.

And then not get put on things like, say, "starfield" to fix all the garbage fire crap that should have been a lesson learned by bethesda from modding communities modding their games for 15 years. >_>
