There is an upcoming “Next Gen Update” though. It was first announced a couple years ago but was delayed into this year. What it contains is still a mystery. The name would suggest it’ll perhaps include high resolution/better textures, maybe improved lighting, some adjustments for modern hardware (like monitor sizes), and/or support for modern graphics card features.
However, if it’s just a patch, they can’t change too much. It’ll all be surface-level stuff, as anything more than that would require upgrades/improvements to the engine - and that would probably need a full “new” release.
They haven’t indicated when this update will roll out, but it feels likely that it’ll coincide with the release of the Amazon Prime show and the new Fallout anthology release (a box set of all the FO games from FO1 up to FO76). Both of these things occur in early/mid April IIRC so we may see this update around that time or shortly afterwards.
Oh they did not all quit 4 lol. While starfield certainly registers on the nexus it'll never, ever, come to be as popular with the modders who made their way through 4.
