Report a translation problem
There are some enemies where hitting certain spots deals a lot more damage (and even more damage with a crit) such as targeting the fusion cores on a sentry bot, but no enemies where a crit is necessary to damage them at all.
It's not otherwise a normal behaviour in the game.
I've never figured out WHY u cant seem to damage him directly.
I reloaded to a point before I run into that guy and this time it was easy. One Crit with the cranked Musket and then some other weapon to finish him off. Nothing weird with the damage this time
So basically you were bypassing the object using the special ability critical that always hits.
I cannot count how many times a bush, railing, shrub, branch, etc ate my gauss rifle shots in Fallout 4 while playing. While in Fallout 76 I have no issues with the gauss rifle there.
