Thinking the PC update might be disappointing.
I'm thinking the PC update might be disappointing, or at least for me and what I was hoping we would be getting. I was hopping for a render engine update with maybe some native raytracing support or at least much better native lighting system and some HDR.
I must be just lucky because wide screen seems to work just fine for me and I rarely have any game breaking bugs with the base game.

This part in particular really irritates me " stability mods and bug fixes." the wording give me the impression that this is going to be a gum and bailing wire fix and not an actual engine code level fixes. I could be wrong with that assumption but with Bethesda's track record I have little hope for any competent changes to the game.

Yea I'm not going to argue with that. I still feel quite a bit disappointed by it.

I fear that bethesda is going to break current FO4 and not talking only bout mods but instability and god knows what they rlly planning to do with such update, what if they remove stuff? what if they make system requirements more demanding? i dont mind i have modern potato but there are people with low spec potato playing this game cuz current game version allows it.

considering fo76 and starfield state at release, im more frightened than excited for this update.

1. I do not get the thirsty demand for 'Ray Tracing" (yes, I have RTX cards). Regular, less demanding rendering techniques work just fine for 10% of the Watts required.

Also, asking for rendering updates to an old game and engine is way too 'optimistic', if you know how Bethesda is re-releasing their old games, regularly, with very little tweaks at all?

Just look at the Skyrim re-releases.

2. This game has a gazillion mods. Implementing radical changes would break all of them. It would cause an uproar in the modding community? Not every mod creator has the time to go back and redo their old work.

Sensible bug fixes, which do not alter fundamental structures, is the only viable way, if you are familiar with this engine's history, code or game programming, in general.

You can only be disappointed, if you have expectations. Better to not have those.

I am quite familiar with the GameByro engine and it's work up to this state and I know asking for a RTX in this engine is a big demand (see Starfield) and tbh in a lot of games I don't even notice a huge diffrence. But a better updated lighting engine of any sort would be nice. The Skyrim releases did have some nice upgrades in the rendering and lighting engine.

The game already has HDR. Maybe turn on Auto HDR in Windows?
Paradoxical Apr 13, 2024 @ 1:52am
This already happened with Skyrim, it will break your mods and make the community weaker because of the way they break them. With the way Bethseda is going they are going to make Blizzard look like a saint before ES VI is out.

The update was never slated to be anything more than to accommodate consoles better, and to improve the way pcs are perceived by the game.

That's it.

Anything else is just wild fantasy speculation and when you ramp up your own hype as 'it'll happen!!' you're setting yourself up for very bad disappointment.

I mean, that's not just for the game. Be aware that not everything you want, will be.

you guys are over reacting. if this breaks mods, just downgrade. I'm pretty sure modders will arrange a downgrade for the game so people can play any version they wish

One can actually force a specific depot to download from Steam and does not have to take the latest. But what can you do about people who fear updates? ... "Fear is the mind-killer." - Dune

Unless you are talking about consoles and not PC, I hope you do know it has a mod for it, right? In fact everything the update promises has already been done with mods.

Yeah pretty much. Not surprising really. Not sure about the PlayStation version, but currently the Xbox version only gets 60fps on Series X by running the game at 1080P and using a BC feature called 'FPS' boost. It works, but not only is the resolution reduced, it also reduces the LOD, shadows and God-rays. This update will make the game a full Series X|S and PS5 native title, which is great for console only users I guess.

25th update is going to completely break hundreds if not thousands of mods, FOSE, ENB the works. Only doing it do to the money they made from the TV show and further attempt to monetize and push paid mods from creation club. See it for what it is.

Highly unlikely, and only until Silverlock fixes F4se. Then it's more than likely back to completely normal.

The cc mods don't make that much cash my dude. They did it for the investors not for your petty couch change.

See it for what it is.

Is this a sheeple post, because it seems like you should have added "you are all sheeple" to that.
