ENBDEV FOR FALLOUT 4
Hello, Steam Community!

For years now, I've modded my Fallout games, such as FO3, FNV, and FO4. But one particular mod that I've researched forever now is ENB Series. I've only used mods from Nexus that change the shaders or environment. For example, for Fallout 4, I use NAC, which to me is the closest thing to an actual ENB.

But anyways, I've never tried out ENB Series. I've been wanting to, but at the same time, the files look really sketchy. I scanned it with some anti-viruses, and some of them found that a few files within could be malicious. I've seen plenty of YouTube Tutorials talking about how good ENB's are, or how to download them. I didn't see anything wrong with how the files looked. So, I went over to, "enbdev.com" (I'm pretty sure that this is the right website).

And I've noticed a few things:

1. The website is "Not Secure". I'm pretty sure it's because it's not HTTPS or something.

2. Since I use Brave Browser, it blocks potential viruses from being downloaded. So, I went to download the recent version of Fallout 4 ENB, and it said that the file was blocked because it's an insecure download.

Based on the things that I've heard about enbdev.com is that it's safe and well known. And they also say don't download any ENB's that aren't in enbdev.com. So, what do you guys think? I honestly want to try it out, but I want to see what y'all think first.

I think you need to go to a browser with current information, for one thing.

I've used enb for years, the site is secure. Just make sure you downloaded this version of fallout 4's enb binaries -> v0496
that's the version compatible with most if not all of the enb presets on nexus

Additionally, unless you are creating your own preset, most presets you can download from places like nexusmods only need two files from enbdev: d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll. Read your presets instructions carefully!

edit: I've never had any problems with my av program or Defender with the enb binaries and I've been using them for years.

Does ENBDev access my private network or anything?

It is a website that you are downloading from, it works just like any other website you download from, it uses cookies for various things just like any other website does, personally I would be looking more at the browser being the issue rather than the website itself, at least in this case.

Your other option may be to give the site an exception in brave, download the file, it is a zip/archive file so can do nothing till you unpack it, remove the exception, then run a through scan with whichever anti virus program you use.

Or go onto one of the various trusted security sites that deal with potential site and security issues with them and check what they have to say about the enbdev site, there again if you are this suspicious of the site why have you not already checked with places like trust pilot and the various big name anti-virus sites.

enbdev.com does not use encryption (https) to protect information. Since you don't transmit any passwords or credit card numbers thats hardly a problem.

As for the version:

ENB v0.501 somewhat supports Fallout 4 NG

Quote from the author: "This version is for compatibility with last game update. Water, subsurface scattering and fog do not work. Maybe something else too. Previous game version is recommended."

ENB v0.496 supports a downgraded Fallout 4 (Version 1.10.163).

The developer likes to share his opinions with the world often, which has occasionally driven me to avoid ENB and his website so I didn't have to read them.

The website is fine, though. ENB isn't really necessary with Fallout 4. Some of the ENB presets look nice, but a lot of them just aren't that great. I've been trying out Utopia ENB lately because it had some nice comments. It seems nice enough, I suppose.

These are all with Utopia ENB.

This one is without ENB. It's using ELFX and Fallout 4 Enhanced Color Correction, which tweaks the colors and contrast a bit.

Same here, but this screenshot is outside and using some mods to make it darker and moodier.

The only reason why I love the looks of ENB'S is because I get really bored with the vanilla look of the game. And, it's just to me I enjoy the game with better graphics.
