For me the question is otherwise difficult to answer, I have only played FO4 since 2023.
10 years ago I watched a Let's Play of FO4 from the Youtuber whose Let's Play I enjoy all of. And I thought to myself, this game FO4 is complete forgetable ....(everything negativ), I will never play this game myself. And in fact, I have COMPLETELY forgotten about FO4. When I played Skyrim Together, around year 2017, and chatted with lots of strangers on Discord, nobody ever mentioned FO4.
... after Fallout 3, I logically played FO4 ...
On the one hand, I have now played more than 1200 hours of FO4 in the last 2 years. On the other hand, I would really like to play a remake reboot, technical reboot, from another developer. So that FO4 is at least as likeable and flowing as Days Gone 2021 or Red Dead Redemption 2. I bought these two games at full price. But since "2006 Oblivion", I haven't bought a Bethesda game for more than $20 or $10
so:
Games like fallout 4 2015 "keep it simple" "keep it with Creation Engine" "next-gen Update" = any Eurojank game or any janky RPG slop game, for less than $20.
It’s strange but true.
All the 1'st person and 3'rd person games i have played are all here rolled into one, and some.
If you're willing to put aside the whole 1st person thing and can try a turn-based tactical fighting approach more in an Xcom 2 style, then I would try Wasteland 3.
Wasteland 3 turned out to be pretty decent and not as `woke` as I expected once you get into the game. It gives you a good amount of choices that YOU decide whether nice or not. I played the whole thing thru (and I did not choose all the nice options; I chose the more commonsense ones that were not as popular) so it can't be all that bad. You can even stick your own face as your main avatar if you mod it just a tiny bit.
Maybe Metro and Stalker series, but these have little of the RPG side like Fallout does, building a character.
Fallout New Vegas
Deus Ex series.
Fallout 76
I'm replaying Fallout 4 because it's such a great game. I'm playing the mod Horizon, which steps up the difficulty and makes settlements useful and changes a bunch of other things. It's the kind of mod with progresion where you start off as tough as a wet piece of toilet paper and by the end of it you're hardened steel.
