MCM just doesn't work
For some reason, the MCM mod does not work at all no matter what I try doing.

Tried with both F4SE 0.7.2 and MCM 1.40 installed, nothing else, on a new save. Didn't work. Tried the same with both Vortex and manual install, Nope.

I have been using the F4SE launcher to start the game each time, yet it just never works.

If anyone has any ideas regarding how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Decided to re-install the F4SE mod, this time manually instead of with Vortex. Still doesn't work.

Which version of MCM 1.40 Beta or Beta 2?
Unfortunately the name says it already *beta*

This thing is in revision and won't be stable for a while.

I'm running the 'next-gen' update as well, with the corresponding MCM 1.40 & F4SE 0.7.2
manually installed and it works ok for me. I take it you've loaded up a game, then hit esc key to where one should have the 'Mod Config' selection visible, rather than from settings alone.

omg I have never used that in all the time I have played this game:satellite:

Well no you don't have to for most part unless you want to change things on the fly. It is just a GUI extension of things you mostly can do in a text file. That said I can absolutely see why it is handy for some people.

But MCM on its own will do very little you need mods that can hook into it.

I have no updates installed for F4. If you are using latest updated F4 then that may be the problem as MCM does not look like its been updated, least I did see any mention of it.

Using version 1.35 it works but using 1.10.163 F4 with F4SE ver 0.0.6.23.
Went to MCM and there is no ver 1.40? latest ver is 1.35 according to the logs.

there are times when I get the sense that folks are so accustomed to mod manager downloading that they've possibly never even heard of 7-zip.

Oh the joy of reading random mod complaints because one archive is using winrar instead of zip causing issues with extraction xd

I can hardly blame the new generation though I mean Windows comes with a build in archive function. Toke them 2 decades but hey we got it eventually.

Of course indeed almost any tech person on the planet immediately killed the function by associating it to there 7-zip or winzip launcher. xd

We are creatures of habit.

I've had a dormant c64 in the garage for a looong time now, I'd be too scared to plug it in.
