How take, but Nuka World is the best DLC of Fallout 4.
Let me explain:

Nuka World is NOT a raider centered expansion where you can roleplay as a bad person.

What Nuka World is in reality is a high level playground to bring your high level character after having such a streesfull work in the Commonwealth to relax and have fun killing evil raiders, visiting cool places and having fun at a funfair. Literally.

Not wrong.

I'll be heading there once I'm done filling up my settlements in Far Harbor, it'll be very nice for the weather change and actual sunlight for once.

Personally i like doing Nuka World after Automatron and before Har Harbor. But still, thank you for not insulting my opinion.

Nuka World is my favorite dlc, for sure. Followed by Automatron. I sometimes start new playthroughs, just to do NW. :D
I know some people prefer Far Harbor, due to its story and actual meaningful choices. But, if I'm being honest, story is low on my list of what makes a game enjoyable.
I love the gloomy aesthetic of FH, but I dont know. Something about it is lacking imo. I just dont find it as fun as NW, or Automatron. And alot of time, I just wind up not playing through it, at all.

Open Season Starts the moment Gage opens that door. For some reason his headless corpse always ends up at the Outside lift to Fizzy Top Bar and Grille.

I miss dismemberment in Starfield. BAD MOVE BETHESDA. Starfield ends up being too Sterile and clean.

Yes, that also happents to me a lot! For some reason, my gun suddently shoots when i am pointing at Gage after killing Colter! Is almost as if destiny is written for the evil of Nuka World to be erradicated.

I started to embrace the Raider way.

And i think i do like having Outposts instead Settlements.
Better traders , passive loot/legendary generation , little to no penalty for neglecting the needs of Outposts , all outposts linked automatically with no need for supply lines.

I do still leave few Settlements untouched like Triangle (Abernathy , RR , Sanctuary) and unique settlements like Graygarden or Bunker Hill (Tho idon't remember if it is possible or not to take over or vassal the Bunker Hill)

Raider4lyfe

i've only wiped them out once or twice. Having Preston be mad is worth enslaving the commonwealth.

seriously though, i love the Nuka World park. I look forward to going there every playthrough.

So you kill him right away and don't get him as a companion and pick up his perk after a while?

I have Gage as a companion right now. I've already gotten his perk, and I'm going through the Nuka-World bottling plant now. I finished the Kiddie Kingdom part yesterday. I wasn't as cautious as I should have been and I had a rough time of it there. My plan is to not agree to take over anyplace outside of Nuka-World, and after I've gotten through the parts of that DLC I plan to wipe out all of the raiders. Kiddie Kingdom had enough enemies to shoot that it almost brought me up another level all by itself.

When I get around to wiping out the others and freeing the enslaved traders am I going to have to kill Gage too? Isn't he essential? Or do I dismiss him and then shoot him?

Yep. Gage becomes hostile and loses essential status at that stage of Open Season where all raiders become hostile to you.

I think he's the only companion in the game (other than custom built Automatrons) that loses the essential status depending on your choices.

The only real downside to siding with the raiders, is that if you already met Preston, he will be mad at you forever.
OR, if you havent yet, you'll not be able to get his companion perk(which is really good), or that neat Minuteman General outfit. Oh, and you cant get the artillery either. Not like I've ever used that, mind you. Unless you agree to kill the raiders.
Alot of times I'll do the MM quests first, and then do the raiders. Because then the only downside, is Preston hates you. You're still the general of the Minutemen. Nothing changes. So like, who cares if Prestons mad?
You could also just leave Prestons group in the museum. Just run in, clear everything inside. Grab the bobblehead, and leave. You can still control the commonwealth, with a mix of raider and normal settlements, but no Minutemen. Which means a Sanctuary free of the Longs and Mama Murphy! Which might be the option I go for in my current playthrough. :D

Even though I prefer Fah Habbah overall (better writing than the main game, some options and consequences when helping the townfolks, a few skill checks, a few items checks, more of this please Bethesdino), exploring NW and the outskirts is absolutely fantastic, it's the kind of thing I wish I could experience for the first time again

with the new update, if you kill the enclave they stop attacking you. But the robot attacks are forever. I'm not an Automajigger DLC fan. I don't see the point, settlers are cheaper and a robot is just an expensive settler.
Contraptions are a waste of resources and will bork you game with two many triangles if you use a mod for scrappers or mining. Not a Contraptions DLC fan.
Nuka world... big boss battle against entrenched raiders, but the music drives me nuts. I can't stand playing it.
Fah Harbah... it's okay. You can kill all three factions. For me, this game is "build the four settlements and kill the 3 factions"..
Vault Tech .... DLC designed by idiots, you get a space that doesn't quite fit by centimeters and the parts don't snap properly. Best you can do is build Far Harbor barns in the big open space.
Wasteland Workshop; What does this even do? Its not a bad pack because it doesn't get in my way.
