Show up in legendary T-60f power armor wielding Zork, legdary Zetan blaster of death.
All your dialog options are kiss donkey, submit, or obey his commands.
Best you can do is point out that having already lost half his squad following the suggestion of that crazy scribe that he's not going to last two weeks.
1) yes in normal game progression you are 100% correct. but we are mostly seasoned players here and many of us dont follow normal game progression anymore.
When you meet him you are usually somewhere around level 6 to 11 ish.
I would have liked the game to acknowledged with extra dialogue options when you show up in superior PA and with superior weapons and superior skill (after all you cut your teeth fighting a real military whereas Danse mostly fought mutants and beasts, perhaps an enclave remnant on occasion but i doubt it because those are few and far between and I doubt his ragtag group would have survived an encounter with a remnant enclave patrol even at half strenght)
2) Maybe, but in such situations, it does not matter what the institutional historical success rate is, or whether the BoS considers themselves independent ( we all know they do) but who and what is there now.
And if I believe I am in charge and have superior firepower and skill, to back it up my claim, well then I am and I get to tell him to skedaddle not the other way around.
Now if he displayed a good attitude and said stuff like " listen I am a ranking representative of the Brotherhood, we are interested in good relations with all except mutants and mutant lovers, which you as a MInuteman clearly are not. Could you please let us stay here or even lend a hand? We will be grateful and the Brotherhood always pays it's debts."
Now that would have been a different story and attitude on the part of yours truly.
this must be the second character that aged. other one is jack cabot..
devs made 2 jack cabot in fact, one young and one old, there is no morphing. and that had caused a bug, because any quest tied to young cabot didnt carry over the old one.. if you delayed to drop by and get the modified gamma gun, thats it, quest should be delivered by the young one.. which isnt exist anymore.
I wonder if Des may have the same issue now.
Fact is, the moment one walks in there is one a nobody to them, and an intruder into their home. And these are people who are being hunted and have all the reason to distrust outsiders.
Imagine a stranger walks into your house. Someone who you did not invite, but merely walked in because the front door was not locked. Would you stop them or let them further in, maybe let them explore the kitchen or the bedrooms? Would you give them the keys to your car? At what point would you stop them and start asking who they were, what they do in your home, why they came here, and what they want from you?
Hmm, I wonder where i expected to be addressed as a saviour.
At the door, I expressed that i came for decoding a chip. And she demanded chip in return for the job.. that was all and we were doing business, deal was agreed by both sides.
But
After decoding the chip she "ordered me to inform them" whenever i get more information about the institute.. was that part of the deal? was that asking for being adressed as a saviour? was it asking for more than the deal?(asking for car keys etc?)
Is this being overly sensitive? Is this typical gamer's attitude?
Answer the door by pointing a minigun at SS and threatening him cuz he knew the secret password (which is all along the freedom trail and is simply "Railroad").
Make the headquarters the secret meeting place. (stupid).
SS may be armed in Power Armor with the Plasma Gun of death or the "Zetan weapon of Gort". Dezi still threatens SS.

If you then helped them to get a courser chip, which is not an easy task, then you have done something that sure says you are here to help. She then uses that to ask for more. Remember, you walked into their world. Not the other way around. They did not come to you or any of your settlements and asked you for help but you walked in there and you gave help to them.
I do not remember how deep one has to get into the Railroad storyline to get the mission with the courser chip, but I find it hard to talk about it as "First impressions ..." at that point in the story.
Even if you were a cut-throat merc looking only to take advantage of the Railroad would you not be upset about their behaviour, but you would just keep taking advantage of them. You would not be upset by her asking for more information, but you would see it as an opportunity the next time you walked in there, knowing they want more, to gain more out of them.
I never helped anyone, I said i have courserchip to decode and she accepted to decode it. And wanted the chip in return.
Deal was accepted by both parties. I didnt ask for more and never expected to be asked too.
she talked down to me after. still unlike an 'oversensitive gamer' I just walked away. Didnt kill them all or anything.
sdack: you little surprised me with your message, still seeing you are defending it.. I didnt reply other parts of your message, because I dont see why we are having this conversation, having a bad day buddy? I responded seriously to this point because I respect you in this forums, but that is all from me.
It sure comes across as if you walked into a French resistance camp during WWII and are mad, because nobody cared for the feelings of a snowflake. Did you expect a welcome party with cookies and cake? The best one can expect as a stranger who walks into their world is not to be shot on sight. The railroad has to hide underground, because just about everyone is out to kill them. They are in a state of war, and you seem to be mad, because they do not welcome you in with open arms, smiles, and a friendly chit-chat.
How do you feel about Marcy Long by the way? You probably hate her from the bottom of your heart, don't you?
