Can Raiders swim ?
Something I've always wondered , can raiders ( or anyone else for that matter ) swim or is the water too hot hot (radiated) to swim in . I've also wondered if was a waste of resources installing turrets and other defences on/in settlements that have water backed up to them .
I know my character and companions can swim but I'm not shore with everyone else .

They can swim they just avoid doing so. If you knock them into water they'll swim to shore, but they'll walk 5 miles around a river before swimming across it.
Turrets are always important, enemies will simply spawn on Spectacle Island for example, even if there's no land route.

Other people can swim, but they avoid it unless there's no other way around. I'm kind of obsessive about covering every possibility and fence off places even when there's almost no chance enemies will try to come in from that direction:

I usually '' Wall up '' some of my settlements myself . It teaches me patience ( Have ADD and anger issue's ) but although trying out new idea's don't always work out .

Enemies tend to go for specific things in your settlement first. Mainly Power units if you built them.

Enemies have fixed spawn locations in the settlement and depending how long it takes for you to travel to the settlement to defend it will calculate how far into the settlement they've reached. Walling off a settlement is only a minor benefit. Mostly for role playing and looks of the settlement. Enemy movement outside your presence ignore walls. They will just show up in the center of your settlement if you take too long. It makes no sense, but that's how it was built.

Unless you're in Far Harbor. I've seen those guys just kind of lurking under the water sometimes (well okay it's at modded settlements where they wander through and attack, and spawn in the water lol)...

Yea, if you know the spawn locations you can place turrets there. Walls are useful if you get there in time. Then they just start at the spawning location and have to walk to the settlement. Otherwise you'll deal with all sorts of enemies inside your settlement. It's kind of annoying. Also there's radscorpion attacks sometimes and they burrow so they may also ignore walls.

From what I can remember Everything that is almost human can swim, If it's not Human It walks under the water or just glides. I've seen brahmin's Packs just above water but they just stand underwater gliding with no movement. Kinda funny to watch, I've tested this out with Power armor and Pain Trained what I could near bridges and docks to see if they could drown. So far haven't seen anything, just a little bit sad about that.

Over in Far Harbor on a modded settlement that was quite near some raiders, I had an *endless stream of dead cattle* because the raiders kept killing them, and they would

drift

slowly

by

under

the

bridge

Where I'd built lol. It's over a bunch of small islands/lumpy watery land so there was enough water to make it slightly annoying that they kept trying to swim around instead of walking over stuff. But then they'd just clump up because the current would drag them around and I'd built things at the end of that area.

There is a mod for that:
Attacks Spawn outside settelements.
So your walls will work for all except the enemies that can burrow (rad scorps and molerats)
