KILL command doesnt work on NPCs

Whenever i target settlers or caravan guards and want them dead, i just type KILL in fallout new vegas and even in skyrim, but why the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does it not work in fallout 4? all it does is knock them down on their asses and thats it. I want them DEAD, not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sitting flat on their asses and looking at me disappointed. Is there like a secondary console command that i need to use to force an NPC to not be essential anymore like in skyrim?


Also will i get penalised for killing caravans? Do they respawn? WIll any subsequent caravans i encounter be hostile towards me afterwards?

Caravans are set as essential in Fallout 4. You want them dead you'll have to remove that flag. It was implemented after people had traveling salesmen die vs molerats and radroaches on the way from point A to point B in Fallout 3. Don't think they're part of any questing. At least not the traders that move around.

Why you want them dead though? Just curious.

If you kill them you get nothing. Their invenory as vendors is only available if they are alive. You'll miss out on good stuff if you kill them. There is litterally no benefit to killing them. Unlessyou want to play as a maniac.

OBVIOUSLY you guys are talking about raiding the caravans' wares, but i was ACTUALLY referring to taking the gear the caravan guards are currently equipped with and i ♥♥♥♥ you not i still havent yet encountered a caravan merchant which means i cant raid their wares even if i want to. Anyway i want the caravan guards dead, because i wanna pile their gear. Like bruh so far ive hoarded over 100 .38 (9x29mmR) pipe pistols etc

Why would you want that garbage? They're 'essential' they don't carry amazing gear in any way.

This game's NPCS are either protected or they're not, and since caravans are essential and SCRIPTED, you don't want to mess with their script. As far as I know, only their brahmin might be vulnerable, but they carry nothing but meat...

2) pokemon ruby, sapphire and emerald which came out back in 2002-2004 have stricter and better scripts than fallout 4 and that game came out in 2015.

There's Carla who travels alone. You can find her near Concord towards the Drumlin Diner. Then all Caravan's travel around. They visit certain settlements by default, but will all visit Bunker Hill. If you do Bunker Hill questlines and complete them you get the option to put a Caravan spot in your settlement and then Caravans will all travel there.

^^ Basically if you're "only seeing guards" then you aren't looking very hard for their caravan seller. The doc, the armorer, and cricket with her guns guns guns travel with guards. Carla doesn't. if you see "caravan guard" as an npc, look a little harder because they are guarding a caravan for a reason.
