Will Fallout 4 be Direct X 9 or 10?
Was wondering, the graphics does seem very much DX 9 but leaning a little on DX 10

Very poor overall.

DirectX 7

The DX version makes little difference to graphics, I would expect that it is a DX11 title with DX 10/9 compatibility.

It may even be DX12/11 only.

DX 9 only support shader model 3.0 which is very outdated.

DX 10 is Sm 4.0 and DX 11 is SM 5.0

There has been NO information on what the graphics will be... so expect DX 11 to 8 bit graphics....

The trailer did NOT have the phrases "GAME PLAY" or "IN ENGINE"

as a result, the trailer could have been used on a heavily modified SKYRIM mod pack!

It will be Direct X 11 without a doubt.

^ Yeah but BoydofZINJ when was the last time that a game turned out to be better looking than its Trailer?

Thanks for the info, i'm not really an expert when it comes to DX features :^)

From what I have seen though most people are complaining about the textures/model fidelity in the trailer, which I thought weren't really affected by DX version apart from the effects that come with the shader model and such.

From what I understand game developers have had the DX12 API for a while now, so it may be in DX12 if we are lucky.

Its can be DX12 and its likely will with how much MS is pushing it. It will still have tiny textures that are shrunk and compressed to hell in order to fit inside the minscule memmory of the consoles. You will end up with another game that has a ton of bloom and depth of feild to hid how low res they are, only now the atmosphereic effects will be a little better. At leasst I know I wont have any problem running it at 4k.
