Radstag is probably pretty smelly, so that means highly attractive to a dog...
Dog's really are disgusting aren't they?
That too ^
As well as any form of meat like Brahmin, bloatfly, or radstag. I can't imagine they'd be very picky on that...
anyway, as far as i know, Dogmeat is a male dog?
Is Dogmeat in prequels or 76? female did thread.
(or the goodest girl. You can choose!)
Cats tend to stay around their bowls.
Dogs (including Dogmeat) tends to hang around a doghouse if you put one down.
But as far as what Dogmeat actually eats????
I've never seen Dogmeat eat anything (honestly, if I were Dogmeat, I wouldn't eat anything either). It's a nasty wasteland out there.
But Dogmeat will play with (I'm guessing) a teddy bear occasionally. It's cleverly hidden somewhere and only Dogmeat knows how to find it.
But I guess you can conveniently place a teddybear in Dogmeat's inventory for your own self reassurance that you're not hallucinating. Why Dogmeat isn't equipped with a K-9 backpack is one of those "it just defies logical sense" kind of things. Probably for the same crazy reason we're not using backpacks to imitate our own inventory.
Who knows? Maybe that's a jerky flavored, tough as nails, indestructable teddy bear. (You know: A dog chew toy).
BUT
I strongly suspect Dogmeat is actually a Synth and that's probably why Dogmeat doesn't eat.
Now that I think of it. Why bother with Institute spy birds when you can have normal looking, unmutated dogs for spies? There's even a fella who goes around selling one and if you buy it, he'll show up later with another dog to sell.
Shoot, even raiders have them. (Probably bought them off that guy too unless he gave them the dogs so they would spare his life). Sure, just like they extort those poor farmers for food.
Piece of Cake simple.
I know I've read posts about those "Spy birds", but I have never seen any topic about the possibility of those dogs being synth "spies". Come to think about it, who would suspect it? People LOVE dogs.
I'm surprised.. we never see any puppies or kittens.
I always carry cans of dog food and let The Good Boy carry his bowl. Also have a mod that allows him a K9 harness/backpack that I kevlar-weave up to keep him safe...until he sets off every trap in a five mile radius while I'm trying to sneak.
Based on the Cannibal perk (which doesn't give you rads as far as I can recall), he should be fine eating normal human corpses even if he has no special resistance to radiation, and it's not like the Commonwealth has any shortage of raiders.
The last few attacks, he (she?) had Super Mutant and mutant hound on the menu...
Also had the odd deathclaw die to my turrets. ^^
it does give rads, but it's only +3 rads (or is in my own game) which is soon nullified by radiation protection of various sources...
