Compatibility issues with most modern OS versions and definitely with modern hardware may make you need to grab ini tweaks or mods to help the games themselves work on modern equipment in the Bethesda side. I'm not entirely sure whether the prior publisher/owner versions (1 and 2) have particular issues running but you would want to research before playing/buying.
But yeah it IS ... It is really a good franchise no matter what game is your favorite among them. It's hugely modded and mod-friendly for the 3d / first person ones, and honestly whatever canon story exists can pretty easily be handwaved by any given fan because until the show, there was only the barest-bones of 'accepted permanent lore' that wasn't obliterated every time a new game came out. and it is, absolutely, changed virtually every time, including originally and definitely with the show, but honestly who cares. it's fun to play and very fun to watch.
There are SOOOOOOO many nods to the games, you will be in for a wild ride since they do a lot of little drops in the show that unless you've been on board (and usually: with fallout 4) and paying attention :D
