Far Harbor problem
Hey all, long time FO4 player here. I bought the season pass long ago, and the Far Harbor content is included. I am thusfar unable to actually get to Far Harbor, as I work my way around the map to get to the Nakano residence I keep getting the same error message - "You cannot go this way". I have completed the first 2 stages of teh Far From Home questline (listen to Valentine's radio/talk to Ellie) but I cannot seem to get to the Nakano residence even as I work my way around the NE coast - as I try to follow the path through the picket fences, I just get the same error message over and over. I even used the jump boost on my power armor to get on top of the overpass, but still the same message "you cannot go this way".

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

There is only a narrow passage you can take. Do you have any mods? Outdated ones may be adding the invisible wall back in.
That´s correct, in the basegame was an invisible wall there, if you have an older mod that still includes this wall (might even not be intentional by the modder) the dlc removed this wall but your outdated mod adds it back in.

Do a safety save and you can try the command "coc DLC03NakanoResidenceExt" to see if you're allowed up there anyway

You can also include a line in the ini file, which this thread details

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=554550918

save your files and archive them with a name you know you'll remember, before altering them.

The line you want to add is

bBorderRegionsEnabled=0

in the General location of the ini. read first, alter after you understand.

Be sure to have read correctly what you have to do ... .

Disable all the quests in your pip-boy then only select the one you want to do ... .

After that, be sure about your quest's marker ... .

I have done Far Harbour a few times, long time ago. Never have had a problem with it, so ... .

This is a known issue. It doesn't necessarily happen to everyone, but 100% this happened to me at least two runs, both Far Harbor and Nuka World, unable to approach until that line of code was inserted. There's a reason it exists, and a reason youtubers and others tell you how to do it... Because they too experienced this issue.
Because most of them are too lazy to search for the mod affecting that area recreating that wall. When far harbor came out mostly mods altering the settlement close to that area (forgot that name, coastal something) where mostly the reason, but 9 years have passed so there are also a lot of other mods adding or changing quests in that area that might create that problem. A fully vanilla game would not leave the wall there.

I did a far harbor run recently and i got to there at level 1, yeah without listening any radios at all.

trick with the picket borders, they are not exacty straight lines at some points, or you feel that way. just give some room, dont get to close but follow it, you will eventually get to nakano's
Funny. First time I came across this problem I just kept working my way round until I found the way. I'm always surprised by the amount of people who give up so quick.

I do remember thinking, "This is a bit weird, it's off the map!" But just kept going...

Been doing it like 20 times never had issues and i newer walket to Nakanos i swim :D
Technical you are supposed to walk along the shore where they placed all these ghouls. But swimming works too. The upper landmass works also but there are some weird restricted pikes that might irritate but it works.

I bought each dlc seperately when they got released and never had that problem.

I mostly read about it when people used mod that altered the settlement area there and these alterations often included the - in the basegame existing - blocking wall of that cell.
