1 shot by missile launcher
just a complaint post; level 20 on survival with full mk 6 hellfire power armor and I died to a non-direct hit from a nonlegendary supermutant missile launcher (missile hit 5-10 feet behind me). 3 perks in bonus health, well rested and multiple food buffs including damage reduction. I lost a lot of progress including killing the legendary deathclaw on the haymarket roof. the damage reduction formula in this game was already busted but this is unplayable.

Survival mode in this game is notoriously unfair and sometimes even extremely hindering. I strongly suggest you either get advanced needs 2/76 or re-enable saving whenever because random crashes and "random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go!" enemies will set your back hours of progress.

Edit: and incase you were not already alert to this; survival and other hard difficulties in this game is essentially just higher number on enemies. more damage, less damage taken. they dont get smarter or anything. the missile launcher guy basically had 2x damage activated on you, because bethesda difficulty settings are incredibly stupid.

I chose to play survival to force eating/sleeping/resource management, not to be 1 shot by a peon while I'm wearing the second best armor in the game. what am I suppose to do besides abuse sneak or snipers? the game is unplayable on survival for 90% of playstyles not to mention the bugs like jack cabot getting stuck on terrain while running to the insane asylum or the same jack cabot losing immortality on the way back to his house before giving you the quest reward. I will check out the mod you suggested, and thank you for that, because I can't continue playing like this.

yeah life's not fair in fo4
First playthrough...no mods...set game difficulty to whatever the player=enemy damage setting is...wicked playthough...up until the vertibird trip from Cambridge to Prdywen.

I was in some level of combat armor...but not power armor...ooooh....pretty views of Boston...what is that wooshing sound....

....BAM...missile from some downtown rando...likely a super mutant tbh. Their accuracy with heavies is nuts sometimes like you have experienced.

I had a save...but first playthroughs are traditionally perma.
That and I also went in expecting NV progression system along with DT...sigh...

i liked the oblivion setting where you had a slider for difficulty.

and sometimes when i play starfield, one of the better design choices they made was custom options, although.... tuning the game in your favor gives you an XP Penalty, where as tuning it against you, gives you an XP Bonus..... which...i thought was a little dumb if they let you customize it in the first place.

actually, if i recall right, the way Fallout 3 was setup, you could even get one shotted by a rocket at level 30... without PA. (Personal Note, My character was a frail charisma build :/)

Fallout 4.... Yeah... lower levels even without survival difficulty, and PA you probably wont survive a rocket, or suicide mutant....and definattly not a fatman.

Anything explosive, on survival, is likely going to one or 2 shot you for a large portion of the game. PA or not. Molotovs are notorious killers on survival. Due to there being virtually no defense against them.

And calling it "unplayable" for certain playstyles is a bit much. Yes, some are not quite well suited to the task. But thats on you to adapt, if somethings not working. Its not hard set class system. You arent stuck using only the self-defined tools of your playstyle.
Oh I have a perfect explanation.

Damage reduction perks suck.
user error, pa without explosive shielding dont helps vs anything, a single moly can kill you 100->0 without that shielding in survival.
with shielding and a few points in endurance you even survive a sucider.

This is the norm on SURVIVAL. What do you think SURVIVAL is? patacake? You expect way too much at level 20.

At level 30 and 40 explosives can still take you out pretty easy even in power Armor. Power Armor is no longer a win/wn. PA is now like a tank in real life- pretty destroyable if you run into everything like a loon. I have to be real careful with my explosive shotgun cos if I use them too near me I'll blow myself up and I'm at level 42 in good PA! And don't dare give your Follower anything explosive until you get the Perk that stops them hurting you!

However, there are ways to lessen the effects when you know what you're doing. Eventually it gets way too easy.

It's not at all unplayable or unfair. Just think of it like real life and take the appropriate measures`.

uh, which Damage Reduction do you have, the overall END Perk, which is Physical, or The Other one that helps against Energy, cant recall. there are 2 of them, if iremember right.

theres also the Damage Reduction from a few other perks that have conditions..or need to be higher level to work.
