Far Harbor DLC Help
I have the Far Harbor DLC downloaded and my game is up to date. I have Nick Valentine as my companion and I have started the quest. I am at the point where I am attempting to go to the families residence but it shows the residence just off the map and will not me past the edge of the map. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. A side note, I also have this issue with the Nuka World DLC. I have a few other DLC's that have worked fine.

This is a common problem and I have had it too!

This video has the solution, it's a very easy ini line.

I did this by adding the line: bBorderRegionsEnabled=0
under the General section in my Fallout 4.ini
Be careful if you try this, and back up your game.

It is a thin trail at the edge of the map line. Follow the waters edge all the way. From the cottage, the Nakano Residence is technically off the map, so follow the coast as it curves around to find a small house, with a boathouse behind it. Mind any nearby submerged Ghouls or random events, and be sure to check the smaller boats for a locked safe on the way there.

it is off the map.....nothing is wrong and that is how it should be.....you must follow the coast line up to the house to get the boat from the father to start far harbor......

It is actually off the map from Vanilla. Both it and the entrance area to Nuka World do this at times. Even if you can SEE the thing in the distance, if it decides your border is still vanilla you must use the ini tweak. It's a feature, not a bug... >_>

yes this is exactly what is happening. could you give me a little more info on the ini tweak?
It looks like that line should work. I'm just not for sure where to put it lol.

Find your ini files. They may be in 2 different areas. You'll probably want the one that is in your Documents / MY GAMES / Fallout 4 section? Make backups first name them ini-old or something so you know and you can just rename them if you need to.

And yes, yes, it's SUPPOSED to be 'a small area'. The fact remains that the area in question *cannot be reached* if you have this bug. It is, in fact, SO COMMON that people have made fixes and informative videos about it.

You shouldn't need an ini tweak, just find the trail (it's on the map) and keep following that. Be patient, it's there. I never had this issue or heard of it still blocking people off. Personally i would keep trying to find it without messing with things.

Not necessary, in the slightest, the house is b4 the edge of the map, jus walk along the waters edge, I do have a vid, from Parson's Creamery https://youtu.be/7uU8rvMC0gU?si=iYBKA-yI0y4ks96a

And I've had several runs before adding the line that prevented me from doing exactly that. There's a reason why this is a bug, it doesn't happen to everyone's game...
You follow the surf line and you still get blocked?

Thanks for posting this . I may now be able to grab that power armour that's been sitting underwater near the vertibird ,out from the Grand hotel .

Yep.

With this bug, the "world" ends at that little pier along the coast with the ghouls around it. if you try to go past that point you get the wonderful "You can't go that way" message.

The INI tweak resets that boundary and lets you access the area, and process normally with the DLC.

Its not common bug, but it does crop up from time to time.

(Same thing with the Nuka World bus terminal. You can get locked out of the area and can;t actually do Nuka World when this bug strikes without the INI tweak)

^^ yeah it was much more apparent with the Nuka world area. Because I was following a VIDEO of someone showing where to go, and could SEE the flagpole thing in the nearby area, and also "you cannot go this way". So yeah it's still a *bug*. A very frustrating one.

But the line of code does allow for things like that 'just out of reach' power armor, and exploring the surreal half-decorated buildings that are normally not meant to be explored, it's really spooky sometimes when you are just wandering right outside where the border would be. Places that seem so peaceful like little edges of lakes or rivers in the Commonwealth, very pretty.
