yeah but the instructions are difficult. I just dont understand the ini thing. I dont want to mess this up. Cause it may cause problems that'll make things take longer. I have a guide but that guide is lacking details on certain subjects. So im basically on my own understanding it
Did you go to silverlock.org and download F4SE? (I think you did, if you've asked whether you have to use it, right)
Which mod organizer did you choose, and does it come with its own LOOT, or did you also seek out LOOT?
I already got F4SE
As for mod organizer I got no idea. I just downloaded the thing.
it's the most easiest one to use imo as click and dragging into each will mess up your game folders probably or not work
ditto for the mod organizer or any other mod manager will probably break your game faster if you don't know what you're doing entirely.
If you go to vortex they'll also have mods readily available to download to and from website to the mod manager (vortex)
you can organize them by most downloaded most recent etc. Most downloaded probably have some merit but check the date and forum posts to see if they're stable. Some like the armor keywords mods that added stuff is now a jumbled mess recent versions.
some mods may require mods off site or some that don't exist or were removed so try to backtrack on that too.
if it gets too too much for you just use the in-game bethesda . net mods to make it more streamlined.
either way try to avoid under 100 mods unless you got a super beefy computer or know or rather learn how to combine them to use less computing space. FO4 wasn't meant to be played with so many mods (or any mods if you look at some of the Creation club complaints lol). If you start crashing or game doesn't boot up come back here and let us know.
it's also another small tip i highly recommend is you mod at most 10 mods at a time to see if they work. Play a bit. Downlaod some more. Then if your game breaks you can probably see which one it is much easier than downloading like 50 mods and trying out 1 by 1 turn off/on until you find the source.
Everything is getting solved. I got help in the CRP discord. I just got confused by the ini files but I think I got a grip on it so I just got to continue with the installation constructions.
that bad huh? I didnt imagine crp would be that big of a deal. I figured it'd run normally like the base game
If it has to have like 5, 6 things before you even can run the game, that's... way more than any beginner should look at, just sayin. But hopefully they've got your back, you'd be more likely to get specific information about any thing that goes wonky, from them on their discord.
The halo weapon mod is somewhat working. The weapons look different but when I picked it up it's the same vanilla fallout guns. The 10mm pistol looked different in vault 111 but when I picked it up it wasnt the halo pistol at all. Seems only the models changed but not the appearance in your hand and the sounds are exactly the same.
edit2: ok other pistols I find seem to work....doesnt make sense cause it didnt happen to the youtuber I saw use the mod
edit3: ok some weapon mods are half invisible, some of the npc's mods were supposed to change look normal when they're not supposed to and part of the world is invisible so I see a big hole in the ground and floating windows
edit 4: ok I just got killed in one hit at full health...
What gives?
edit: ok I can't leave vault 111 without dying now. I guess its something to do with the stupid gas mask mod that was "required" for the halo armor. I exit the elevator, I hear a beep and next thing I knew I was slowly dying of radiation damage that slowly got higher and higher. I put a mask on but it only reset it and the radiation damage started over again! Also the elevator door and elevator is completely invisible
Wtf is up with fallout 4 mods????
That's not a typical fallout 4 mod. It's a massive, huge, overburdened and detailed one, that, as I've tried to express: is not for beginners.
Each and every individual mod has its quirks, bugs, or requirements. They might rely on one thing that isn't working, or simply never been updated to work correctly. Every mod, every time, needs a thorough understanding of what people are complaining about (invisible weapons is very familiar) or seem to conflict with other things.
It is not in any way "typical". You've basically just thrown a bunch of things that will change the entire essence of the game, and obviously, that's not great if only parts of it work or if you've only partly read the descriptions of the mods. This might be 100% expected behavior.
I dont know anymore. Fallout 4 modding is the most overly complicated thing ive done (in terms of modding games) I honestly dont know what im doing and im about to just give up.
You guys are insane for putting yourself through this. Why do they overcomplicate modding? How hard is it to just put a file somewhere and it runs? Why do I need to run laps and do loops just to get ONE mod to work?
Why is fallout 4 modding so confusing?!
Like stated before, start small, with one, so you know what you're doing. It is more complex than 'plug and play' and for PC without using just the same bethesda-provided stuff, it WILL always be several more steps than you had with a console.
When you say "one" mod, and then also have installed a massive overhaul AND several apparently broken mods on top of it, that's why it's harder for you.
I still suggest: just start over with something simple, after having fully read and understood its FAQ if it has one, the comments and bug reports on the nexus page, and whether you have the correct thing downloaded to run it.
I did start with something simple. Just halo guns and armor mods, raider replacements etc. I installed them with mod organizer and when I started fallout 4 I encountered alot of issues. From invisible buildings and ground, the raiders didnt get replaced, half the models of the guns are missing for some, some wont even load in my hand properly. I dont know what's going on
I think, the relatively recent version change over for the game did not help.
Many mods dont yet work with the newer game version, which could explain some of your troubles if u r on version .984
and +1 to Vortex, but if you're already familiar with MO2 it's probably better to stick with that
also I've always had 2 lines added to the custom ini and still have them..not sure if that has changed but it's worth looking into
