Fallout 4 on Windows 7
Will Fallout 4 work on Windows 7? Or do i need to upgrade to 8? I really would rather not Windows 8 is such a bad OS.

it should, but if it doesnt, windows 10 will be a free upgrade to those who have 7 or 8, so you'll be fine either way

Most likely.

Win 8 and 8.1 are great OS. I will never go back to win 7.
Pfft. So close to the Windows 10 launch and people are still running with the anti-Windows8.1 propaganda?

Outside of a few UI issues that can easily be resolved, Windows 8.1 is a superior Operating System to Windows 7. I look forward to Windows 10 also joining alongside windows 8.1 in trumping Windows 7.

Win 8 & 8.1 are great OS? Say what? LOL, lots of Microsoft shills here.

if Fallout 4 uses the gamebryo engine then it should, every game they have done has been DX9

I see no reason to switch to win 8 or 10 if newer games don't bother to use DX12

There is no way im using windows 8 , so it better work on 7 or i will simply have to wait until 10 is stable and if not 10 , whatever is the next one after it.

Supposedly there won't be any new versions of Windows after 10 for a good long while. They'll be updating 10 instead for the forseeable future. It also looks like new versions of Direct X will require 10, so you'll have to upgrade to game sooner or later.

Under the hood Windows 7 and 8 are nearly the same. I can see no reason it would not run on 7 unless it requires dx12. hmm does anyone know if MS gonna offer dx12 on 7 or 8 for that matter?

But like said above, you can get windows 10 for free soon if you have 7 or 8.

Only the UI is bad on 8 and there is a mod for that ;)

FYI: I still run 7, did not see any reason to upgrade it to 8

Back to topic: Of course the game will work with windows 7. Bethesda doesn't use any MS only technology that exsist only on Win 8.

This is something people say who are simply jumping on the "hate 8" bandwagon.

Only cause windows 10 is going to be free, no ones going to go buy 8 if they have 7 and get 10 for free. And besides the terrible metro screen, windows 8 IS better, and this is coming from a 7 user...

I guess thats why microsoft fired most of the people who tested/ developed windows 8 right? :emofdr:

My guess is that if it had to do with Windows 8 it was merely a PR move to impress people. Numbers don't lie, and you can find proof anywhere that 8 outperforms 7 at pretty much every step. As of 8.1 the Metro screen can easily be bypassed by checking a box within a settings window.

For me its not a performance issue its more of a UI issue, I find it easier to navigate my computers menu's and hard drives on windows 7 than on windows 8, also im not a big fan of the tiles on windows 8 and yes i know you can change it to the deskop mode but it still revolves arround the tiles and id rather just wait till windows 10 is released after trying that out for a few hours the other day.
