Windows 7 vs windows 10 for FO4

I am at this stage holding off till comfirmed specs for Fallout 4 is realeased and will not upgrade to windows 10 right away i will wait for game list of workable games on it first but during the E3 conference bethseda stated that they been workign on the game for 4-5 years, so i would assume it's been made for a windows 7 platform perferibly but i could be wrong and it will work better on windows 10 ....

My question for all is if FO4 doesn't work well on windows 10 does microsoft commit suicide :p
Or do you think Bethseda will make sure it is ready for windows 10 which i would think they have?

I'll switch over to WIN 10 after Fo4 is available, after I do some more research.

I hear its supposed to be better optimized to make better use of the computers resources.

Dude Win 10 available now I'd think Fo4 should be made to run on it cause ppl will be using it.

Yeah thats what i am thinking that they will make sure it works good on windows 10, but i got a gut feeling that at first it will be better optimized for windows 7 and windows 10 may need patches for more optimization for the game unless microsoft gave them a good heads up then FO4 releases good on all platforms :) fingers crossed

with VR aroudn the corner that be great but for those on lower end cards that would be a reason to up to win10 I am going to to take a similar approach to masterpainter78 hold off wait for game list that works on win 10 and see about FO4 optimization on win 10

Fallout 4 is going to be compatiable for Windows 10 for sure. The real question is if it is compatiable with Windows 7.

Fallout 4 began devlopment in 2011 roughly. So it was orignally built not onyl with Windows 7 in mind, but it also had Seventh Console Generation specs in mind (so hopefully it isn't that demanding for it being an open-world game and all). So there is a fair chance it will work with Windows 7 too, considering Windows 7 has a larger install base then rather Windows 8 and probably Windows 10 when it's released in a few months, it would be a no-brainer business wise to optimize it for Windows 7 along with 10.

I wonder if this game will utilize DirectX 12.

eh. all I actually KNOW about win 10 is that (a) although Microsoft is pushing their new browser big time, they reluctantly hid IE 11 in a dark corner so you can still run it...Luckily, since (b) their new, sooper doper "EDGE" is a buggy PITA that started off as junk and is still being tweeked frantically behind the curtain. Current status: usable, but still slower than what you're probably using now.

Otherwise, my (very) brief run through with Win 10 indicates that its effectively an enhanced 8.1...but that 90% of websites have not yet upgraded to effectively interact with it. er...that means a lot of stuff loads and runs slowly. Not so much because of Win 10 itself, but rather because most sites aint met the new sheriff yet.

All that blather aside, there seems no reason FO4 should have any probs. The devs knew win 10 was coming and knew there are actually few if any mods needed to run anything on it that worked on version 8.1.

It ships with DX 12 however that SHOULD be meaningless since all versions of DX thus far have been retro-vated. heheheh....meaning the newest download also includes all previous versions so your game can take its pick.

P.S. REM you can always set your built in compatibility emulator to spoof a game into thinking you're running an earlier version of Windows...but I'll leave that topic for others.
