Minecraft in Fallout?
Yes, I'm talking about this crafting system that lets you break down whole structures and create new ones, in real-time.

Is this honestly what people want?

As if mixing the action and roleplaying genres wasn't bad enough, they're going to introduce a sandbox crafting system like Minecraft. This has nothing to do with roleplaying.

If I wanted to build structures I'd play Minecraft or one of it's many clones, or maybe an actual city-building simulator instead. If they wanted a game where you build settlements, run caravans and protect them from raiders, then that would have been perfect as a strategy spin-off title. But this mixing of genres into one big hotchpotch results in a mess of game design in my opinion. Roleplaying games are for roleplaying. Not this.

So again, are you actually excited about this? If so, why? I'm genuinely curious as to why you think this would add to the game.

Not ten years. They started concept art in 2009, shortly after fallout 3
so 6 years then? My point is still vaild
They didn't spend all of their time in the "minecraft" aspect. The gameplay looks much better than NV and 3. The graphics are a huge upgrade from the last games. They didn't focus on just building. A lot of the new features are customization. DIfference there. The Pipboy is different now. Vats is upgraded. The world is WAY bigger. It seems they poured time into every aspect.

it's optional and I believe he said there were plots in the open world landscape where this is possible so I don't think it works for every single structure + everywhere...just small locations across the map...just think of it as extra stuff in the map.

He did. He said that there would be large spots where you can build them, but you can't just pick a random spot. Similar in that fashion to Herthfire(I think that's the name of the dlc from Skyrim) except this one you can make the house however you want.

Thank you. I'm just looking for honest opinions here.

It's not like I've completely made up my mind yet, but I didn't particularly like what I saw.

I know the building isn't for everyone, which is why its optional, but do you honestly not like the fact that you can practically make your own weapons from scratch, and customize your power armor? Just curious. I'm going to have a blast with the weapons. This will be the first fallout game where i'm going to try a melee character as well(since you can attach saw blades to a metal baseball bat :D)

Yea...? That was my entire point, the OPer said

Oh yes, I know he said it was going to be optional. But still, considerable development time have went into this, that I think would have been better spent refining roleplaying mechanics.
And then i said "it's NOT like they spent all there resources on the "mine carft" aspect of the game"

Yes I want it, I want it REALLY badly. In fact reading about it just put me over the edge and I'm about to preorder the collectors edition SOLELY because of that feature.

I love Action Adventure RPG and Creative Building games and the fact that they really know what they're doing by implementing this feature just gave me so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joy.

To be clear, what I'm talking about are the part where you break down and build up whole structures in real time.

The weapon and armor customization looks really good, to be honest. That is the kind of crafting the game should have, but they went completely overboard with the rest.

You talk as if this can't enhance roleplay. What if I wanted to make a character who wants to be a mayor?
Lightbringer 15 JUN 2015 a las 9:15
you started by saying mixing action genere with roleplaying is a bad idea. I don'T think so mixing generes is the best part about modern gaming.

Yeah that is a good point it can add to the role playing

Dude building your own settlement looks awesome. Dont do it if you dont like it. Just because you dont like something dosent mean all of us wouldn't want it. Have you seen how many mods there are for your own settlement in skyrim and fallout 3/NV?
