Minecraft in Fallout?
Yes, I'm talking about this crafting system that lets you break down whole structures and create new ones, in real-time.

Is this honestly what people want?

As if mixing the action and roleplaying genres wasn't bad enough, they're going to introduce a sandbox crafting system like Minecraft. This has nothing to do with roleplaying.

If I wanted to build structures I'd play Minecraft or one of it's many clones, or maybe an actual city-building simulator instead. If they wanted a game where you build settlements, run caravans and protect them from raiders, then that would have been perfect as a strategy spin-off title. But this mixing of genres into one big hotchpotch results in a mess of game design in my opinion. Roleplaying games are for roleplaying. Not this.

So again, are you actually excited about this? If so, why? I'm genuinely curious as to why you think this would add to the game.

It's 100% optional, so you don't need to worry about it at all

I'm beyond excited. They did say it was completely optional, too. You don't have to do this. I will be making my own settlement, but probably just enough to store my stuff, nothing spectacular in the beginning. My excitement is really stemming from the epicness of the gun crafting though. That looks absolutely amazing. And the customizational Power Armor. That too :D

Hell yes this is what I want. If you don't want to do it, don't do it.

Oh yes, I know he said it was going to be optional. But still, considerable development time have went into this, that I think would have been better spent refining roleplaying mechanics.
Oh come on, the number one way to conserve energy, find food and drink, and survive is to build automatic turrets out of that concrete building you just instantly destroyed with the wrench you made while melting tin cans in the crafting system.

I've never been this excited for a video game before, and this looks like its going to add a fresh new spin on the games mechanics.

i don't really see why you're getting worked up, if you don't like this part of the game, just don't use it, i wont be using it myself but i think that it's cool that bethesda is introducing new things into their game, rather then getting games and just recycling like you see with CoD

Nothing wrong with adding completely new features to give players something to do.

Always amusing to see people ♥♥♥♥♥ about optional features.

Actually, nobody knows! That's the charm. They're using what worked in the past and added new mechanics. That's why I'm excited. The building part could be real dull and boring, or we might get to have some fun with it. (Anyone up for recreating the Lucky 38?) Given the customization level in this, I think they're going for a play-how-you-like style rather than "You're here, now go here."

And if all else fails, I can always snipe Deathclaws. ... and then get my face ripped off.

Well considering they have been working on the game for over 10 years i believe they said, i'm sure they've had more then enough time for other machanics it's not like they put all their resources into the "mine carft" aspect of the game....

Not ten years. They started concept art in 2009, shortly after fallout 3
I'm a little wondering how the the whole system works and I'm more talking about details they didn't even address like about law enforcement and what happens when you shoot one of your settlers in the faces cause you don't like their face. IF the other settlers go about their business than you have a great way to get rid of all the karma you ever gain.

personally I do love this possibility and I beleive I will not be only one ...

if you dont like it there are 2 options for you
1) dont play optional features (like gwent in Witcher 3)
2) dont buy the game if its game breaking thing for you
