The trick with getting Ack Ack’s buddies to spawn extra ammo is neat but I would not call it “easy” to have people repeatedly shooting at you with a minigun. USAF Olivia is not an easy mission at low level on whatever counts personally as your “challenging” difficulty level.
The Concord ammo you can loot without ever seeing Gristle or the death claw. You can walk unopposed out of Concord with it as long as you don’t talk to Preston.
yeah I was careless ;) eventually had to startover
and this time first stopped by at the root cellar and grabbed gold bars, then at the red rocked, got fusion core from the basement (and the black rim glasses), i passed by concord and got minigun by climbing up the church, then followed the road and activated Carla (unnecessary, but I sold some of those things to her and completed CHA clothings by buying a hat and a tshirt +4 in total with the glasses) then handled wolfgang abd trudy crisis, sold them too. Stopped by at the starlight as well, just looted the backside, grabbed some adhesive and aliminum and the core. ventured down along the way and claimed power armor which was caged in the train. (didnt go lex and corvega for trading books and fusion core booblehead) helped Danse but no arcjet, then reached diamond city by passing uss riptide.
it was nighttime when i got there, i only traded with robot and slept at bobrovs' place, sold everything by the morning and bought new clothes, got the house, and settled in. got a few level along the way, got armorer and gunnut lone wanderer lockpick hacker and strong back, tweaked my 10mm and leather armor to the max. still have 1k caps :D now going for the Valentine..
Well, I still wonder how I could find 2k by just staying at diamond city only, with a freshstart character, I'll try it again later as a challenge. It will be heavily relied on stealing i guess.
(and as Zek mentioned, high charisma is useful when getting diamond city quests, for winnig 3x speech checks, and exps and extra monies. I already got all quests in this playthru but havent gone for them yet)
Simple
(press ~) player.additem f 2000 ENTER (press~)
But don't let everyone know you did it. Just keep it to yourself until someone else could use a hand.
First approach Wolfgang and pass the speech check to make him lower his gun.
Afterward pass the speech check to make him hand over his money.
Then ask what’s going on.
Wolfgang will recruit you to get what he’s owed from Trudy agree to talk to her.
Afterward go to talk to Trudy.
Offer to help her.
Ask for more money until she offers to pay you 200 caps
Now agree to help Trudy and kill Wolfgang and his guard.
You just got 250 caps free but we aren’t done yet.
What we do next depends on whether you own wasteland workshop dlc.
If you do own it do this.
Buy the materials to build a Brahmin cage as many as you can in a settlement to generate fertilizer.
Next go do the quest call to arms with paladin danse clear the ghouls and do the follow up quest.
Every single time you kill a synth prioritize pocketing the weapons.
Take all the weapons back to your settlement with the Brahmin and scrap them for their plastic.
Now using the plastic and the fertilizer make as much jet as possible then go to diamond city and sell it and continue to do this with every weapon dropped by a synth you will easily be making back what you spent.
If you do not own wasteland workshop this method isn’t an option so instead I would go to the settlement raffling ton boathouse and use that money on building industrial water purifiers there and selling the water.
Far Harbor is my favourite DLC but it still manages to break the game due to lousy QA and a recipe that breaks every rule in FO4’s balance book. 400% profit on crafting, or 700% with not even any added ingredients to explain where the poison comes from.
Since every DLC breaks the game balance badly one way or another it makes you wonder if they just didn’t GAF anymore or if they were actually trying to break the game on purpose. Did they hate the game or hate the players at that point? I guess the DGAF explanation is more likely. Or just that the people who had the vision of the game balance and whose Jon it was to enforce it, had just moved on.
Maybe after water farming was allowed into the base game they just thought “what’s the point?”. Maybe they were right. Caltrop farming is an egregious way to get a few thousand caps right out of the gate, but it’s not hugely different from selling the minigun ammo or just selling all the scrap from Sanctuary. Whereas water farming works all through the entire game and just keeps growing exponentially more profitable without any practical upper limit.
My preferred locations are still Taffington Boathouse and Spectacle Island
in survival every place has the same difficulty for me to reach, but in loading screenwise you have a point, diamond city has one extra. outside the survival you can fasttravel from/to diamond city house from anywhere. and it somehow has one of the shortest loading times.
2. Buy fertilizer -> cook jet -> sell
