Mystery of Cabbot House.
today, I had an epiphany! I was doing the quest for Cabbot house, and I got to the part where you find Edward d'Ghoul in the insane assylum. Great. Got the Charisma bobble head.
Then I thought... "Why go on? I'd have to listen to this wind bag and then decide whom in the Cabbot family I wanna kill - either Daddy Cabbot or Daddy CAbbot's wife and two ego inflated brats."
The "mysterious serum" itself in normal mode seems useless. In survival it seems worse than useless. Not like I'm gonna play the game until SS is old and white haired.
Anyone else just take the Bobble head and leave Jack to sort out his family problems?

I deal with his shenadeegans just to remove at least 1 quest from my ever expanding list

Have you tried killing them both, jack and lorenzo? I think Cabbot House would make a pretty cool player home.

There's a mod for the house but since it has scripted events in it, to my knowledge none of the ones I've investigated for this work well enough for my taste.
Nop never tried to kill both, although their house is pretty snazzy
you get the unique weapon if you side with cabbot and kill the father. the weapon is pretty cool and deals good dmg if you have the right perks.
serum is only if you side with father cabbot. either serum or weapon.

i have a mod that gives me the cabbot house once the quest is finished, cabbot was already set to disrapper from the game at the end in vanilla, now the sister and mother disseaper too.
thr house is nice for comps to stay in.

IF you kill Jack, he drops the weapon. You get the weapon either way

The "zeta gun", or the "Lorenzo's artifact" weapon? I was under the impression you can still get the zeta gun from Jack, but not Lorenzo's artifact.

I like the Cabot quest. I like the 1930-40s Cabot lad character that wants me to help fix things with his Dad. Curie doesn't like his crackpot theories quite as much.

I less like the annoying vain girl I decided to rescue. I don't kill anyone who isn't trying to kill me.

Sure, they're rich, extremely lucky and somehow avoided being blasted to smithereeens by a nuke, but I don't mind them. Also their ghoul head merc is a decent guy, good for a few drinks and a raw joke you wouldn't tell the ladies.

Honestly, the only reason i bother with this quest each time is the bobblehead in the sanatorium you cant get to otherwise.
Collecting all bobbleheads is always one of the sub goals in each playthrough for me.

I like Jack. He also gives me a fun FUS RO DAH gun, after a few days. Plus I cant leave a quest partially completed. :D
I wish that if you progress the quest line and become a “retainer” of the family, you could use a bed there and maybe the food and drink. (You actually can drink from the sinks iirc so that’s something).

The only business I have at the Cabot House is to rack the pool balls without accidentally grabbing the triangle

there is 2 weapons, the zeta gun that fires red projectiles, it is weak pretty useless weapon and you can stole one version in his lab at home as wel.
then there's the unique weapon , lorenzo artifact gun, which is normally the reward jack gives you only if he's alive and at the end of the quest.
as far as i know, the only way to get the unique gun, lorenzo's artefact, is with jack giving it to you and the only way he can give it to you is after completing the quest . or killing him after the quest is completed and lorenzo dead (killing him before you'll only get a zeta gun from loot ).

i'm not certain you can loot the unique weapon by killing him at the bobbleheads room or before until the quest is completed.
the only way you can loot it from jack by killing him is after the quest is completed and you killed lorenzo and jack is wating for you in the asylum's lab to give you your reward.

so either way you still need to complete the quest with lorenzo dead as you'll not be able to loot it from jak if jack's dead before that.
as the lorenzo's artifact gun is made with the use of the artifact that is in lorenzo's head, lorenzo has to be dead so that jack use the artefact that was in lorenzo's head in order to create the unique weapon for you, which means the quest has to be completed.

if you kill jack before all this, he drops a useless zeta gun, not lorenzo's artifact gun.
( means you can have 2 zeta gun if you also take the one in cabbot house lab ),
well i can't test right now to confirm this 100%, maybe later

30 minutes well spent. every now and then someone asks for a pool mod I'm surprised nobody's made one yet. I'm sure it's not simple.

he says not to sell or throw out the serum..I always wondered what he does if you do. I keep telling myself I'll do it and see what happens but I always get side tracked.

I do think the serum could be useful in survival for extra carry weight...but...it's easier to just craft/buy your own chems than having to run across the map to his house to restock. it's not worth the hassle.
