What are all the ways to scrap the junk in my inventory?
So far i only know about going to setlement droping it all on the floor and entering workshop mode and scraping it this way. Is there really no other way to scrap what i have in my INV???

You can transfer junk to any crafting table (including a settlement workbench) using the "transfer" option and choosing "store all junk". The table will automatically use it when you craft something.

You can also scrap weapons and armor at those respective crafting tables.

Click on the workbench which should see a option to store all junk.

Keep in mind, doing it that way does not help in reducing the settlement build size.

I stopped using drop and scrap method. Everytime you scrap something, game thinks you scrapped a fixed object in that settlement and give you more room to build there.

But settlement building limit is present for a reason. So i only scrap armors on armor bench and weapons on weapon workbench.. selling the rest

and no there is no other way to scrap an object. but there are mods ofc.. i once saw an portable scrapper mod, that scraps junks as you collect them. and i used one mod (this is not portable) scrapping workbench.. it looks like a scavenging station, you press T and unload all junks you carry and it scraps them all at once and send to your inventory or to settlement's inventory

this last mod is available thru in-game mod menu.

Manufacturing Extended has a scrap contraption in the set of contraptions.
The Nodas Recycler is a stand alone scrapper contraption mod that scraps more than just junk.

The problem with both of these is that if you put a while bunch of junk in the scrap contraption and don't shut them off when you leave the settlement, they might explode, throwing stuff everywhere.

Nodas also has a personal scrapper that you make at the chemistry bench and carry with you and it scraps stuff in your inventory. I don't know but I suspect it is the cause of CTD, so I don't use it anymore

Important fact: You do net NEED to scrap items manually, neither by yourself or by some mod. Junk items that are stored in your settlement Workbench just deducts the items you need whenever you build or mod something. And you do not loose parts, the parts needed from an item is used and the leftovers are automatically stored with the rest of your Junk.

Scrap all minor weapons and armour pieces as you see fit, you gain a lot more resources from modded guns and armour.

You do not need to scrap junk items, only weapons and armor. The game is going to automatically break junk items down for you if you need any of the components Before you ask, yes the leftovers are deposited in the workbench.

In fact it is better if you do not do scrap junk items because the amount of items in the workbench determines whether or not you scavenging produces scrap or not. Scavenging production by settlers shuts off at 50 +5 per population. So when you scrap a junk item into 4-6 pieces you are increasing the count.

I have never had any issues with scarping junk by dropping it on the ground. And it works to give more size for building more stuff in your settlement. This is esp. important at the Castle. Repairing the walls there correctly, to somewhat match the parts of them which are intact, they really do not give you enough size limit there to accomplish that and still build a lot of other stuff.

I agree the size limit is there for good reasons. One is so those with low end systems do not
overload their computer. And normally I do not try to extend the size limit. But in every run I have did, over 2 dozen, it has never caused a issue. Both systems I have used to play the game over the years, have both been pretty strong. Much more so the game requires.

You don't need to scrap, but it's a lot easier when you have to carry junk to build something specific from one settlement to another. Lighter too, iirc.

Claim the other settlement then connect a provisoner. Then pre-build everything before moving settlers in so they start at 80 happiness instead of 30 or 50 happiness.

The most efficient method I have found to geth the MOST components from scrapping loot found in the Wastes, is to use Manufacturing Extended and Better Manufacturing mods from Nexus .. Use the specific Recyclers for general items, Armor and Weapons, with them set via a connected Terminal to "scrap Mods" which will then credit you with the components from the Mods added to each Armor or Weapon .. Using the Workbench to scrap items DOES NOT give you the components from the attached Mods, like scopes, or glow-sights, or ballistic weave fabrics and such ..the Contraptions from the above mods WILL give you those components back.

Yes, it does. A plain hunting rifle gives you wood, steel, and screw. A hunting rifle with mods gives you extra components like aluminum, glass, etc.

Mods you are using give you extra components, it does not "fix the vanilla game."

One of the main reasons I often reduce junk items to their components is that the game can much more easily handle a smaller number of stacks of junk components (even with thousands of pieces per stack) than a huge selection of intact junk items.

Relentless packrat that I am, I've had noticeable lag just opening the workbench inventory when I had sufficiently huge numbers of unscrapped junk items.

The MODS I Use, give me 50% of what it takes to build an item (scope for example) ..when I played Vanilla, I never got anywhere near 50% components back from Modded Weapons or Armor .. Not going to fall for your "lets start a pissing match, because I know it all" crap this time. Good Day sir!

You made a false statement how game mechanics work to a new player. I corrected it.

Vanilla gives you 25% as I said.
