Male if i want a sarastic jerk / psychopath
Courtenay Taylor projects her emotions better and fits better as a dramatic / serious character.
Brian T. Delaney does better job sounding like a sarcastic jerk / immature manchild character.
I switch to 3rd person fairly often, and I'd rather look at woman booty over man booty.
Voice-acting wise, I find the Nora voice work a bit more convincing, and the repeated cries of "SHAUN!" aren't as annoying.
That's what my oldest daughter told me when I asked her why some guys played women. I didn't believer her. Got a good laugh out of it though. Now I gotta tell her she was right. Damn!
Not always. There are people who play female characters cause that's how they feel inside
It's easier to explain the weird ♥♥♥♥ you're doing if your character is the same gender as you.
Yup.
But seriously, it's only 3rd person games or games with a 3rd person camera in dialog.
FO4 I basically always play a woman, again for the purely selfish eye candy, and with dialog always being 3rd person it doesn't break any immersion for me.
But in a game that is solely first person - FO4VR for instance - I feel kind of awkward playing as a woman. FO4VR, despite it being essentially the same game, I always play as Nate.
I'm sure the exact opposite is also true for some people - really depends on you and your preferences. Not judging anyone at all, just being honest about my reasoning,
I personally play majority of my gameplay in first person. With dialogue camera disabled (both for immersion reasons and the fact that i can quickly break free from a dialogue early if ♥♥♥♥ is about to go down)
Only instance where i use third person is when i'm meleeing cause block counters only work in 3rd person for some weird reason and they are life savers for melee chars.
I feel right at home playing either male or female in FP :P
Probably makes you a better person or something :D
Eh it's just down to personal preference.
I was attempting a bit of satirical irony. Epic fail :/
Interesting thread so far though.
Seems it is always kind of hard to translate satire, irony etc. into a text posting.
Looking at dialogue, the male is just better. The female seems to have some sort of attitude problem, though that may just be my own view.
My choice is ultimately more linked with how I want to play. A big, beefy Nate makes a better soldier and heavy weapons user (which also goes along with his military background), or with a non-stealth sledgehammer melee build. A more stealthy type (either melee or sniper) could go either way, but I mainly go female. Though there are exceptions (and a female main character being one of them), but women aren't as physically strong as male, so going more calculated and careful works well, and being a former lawyer shes more of a deliberate, thinking type anyway.
