(sorry for my bad english)
All we know is that there is romance. It won't necessarily work the same as Mass Effect (and I hope it's better than that).
EDIT: Apparently Todd himself said you could romance them? I don't know, I guess we'll have to see how that turns out.
Dog meat
My first game with Dog meat I grew attached and felt bad sending him to safety, watching him walk off head and tail down like he was being punished.
I've been out living great dogs for over 50 years now and when he died so easy and I had to start the game over to try again, I took that like so many other gamers had that there was a patch or mod I could down load, as well as a "cheat code" to make him immortal.
(Any chance any FO3 "cheat" codes can work on FO4?)
Apparently what Bethesda learned from looking at that player response has stayed with them to this day, for an unremarkable, forgettable character Bethesda has put a lot into really improving him.
As the near iconic image of the primary character and dog walking into the sunset I would
say a dog companion is almost as iconic to Fallout as power armor.
I do not think I am alone in picturing the dog at my side as we walk into the most dangerous situations I've faced with a dog, as a pit or a rottie, or a boxer.
I've had all three from a puppy I could hold in one hand, to a head in my lap near as broad as my out stretched fingers taking his or her last breath at the end of a long life, that is a week
of their life span for everyday of their life.
Shepard, boxer, rottie, pit bull, in my life time they were all the terror dog of the day. They were not a problem breed before or after, they were/are dogs exploited by cruel dog fighters because they could be trained to be fighting dogs and could fight hard if so trained.
A lot of good loyal dogs ended up available for adoption because of the bad press. A lot ended up in good homes, adopted by good people and left a good impression on all who got to know them.
How hard is it to give players the option to choose this companion from several “fighting” breeds as they would craft their primary character, or select armor for their other companions?
As for the rest of your post, I don't know how to respond to that or what it has to do with my post.
