fo4 missing strings
Been away almost a year. Ten months ago,my FO4 (w all DLC) ran perfectly, (Win10, f4se_1_10_163.dll, c25 mods). FO4 not updated (as I set it this way). Yes, now mod manager says FO4 is missing many 'strings.' Looking with explorer, the folders in which the strings are supposed to reside don't exist. Searched internet = confusing and contradictory posts. Anyone successfully sort and fix this problem? How? Thank you all.

Honestly, there's no reason to prevent the game from updating since the last update happened back in Oct of 2017. You should allow the game to update to the latest version which is 1.10.63.0. You can validate your local files and this should restore anything that's missing.

Once your game is updated, you should also update whatever third party mod manager you're using (NMM, Vortex, MO2) if any, as well as your mods. If you're using CC content, that might happen automatically but I'm not 100% sure since I don't use CCC.

Your other option would be to delete your game folder, delete all your ini files in Documents/my games/Fallout4
and then do a complete re-install but I don't think you have to resort to that.

EDIT: I also found this on Reddit and it seems that the fix was to update Wrye Bash to the latest build. IDK if this pertains to you but I figured I'd add the link anyway.

Thank you supersledgeNY. I was hesitant to update because it will obsolete SKSE, and break many mods. All the fanfare about the free update and ... my mixing it up with the skyrim update / skse etc not done yet. When I researched, and read items on reddit -- it seemed focused on american vs British English, or was that on Nexus... I conflated them. So...
Again, thank you.
Whoa wait a minute Elana, this is a Fallout 4 forum and I was taking about that game, and not SSE and the anniversary update. Please be careful updating that game since I don't know if it will break your mods or not.

EXACTLY. :) I'm just coming back to both FO4 and SSE -- been away almost a year, Saw the cautions re the anniversary edition. I run SSE thru Mod Organizer - and run FO4 thru WBash. Both run thru Script extender, and both have updates blocked on steam. Coming back -- many warnings about the Anniversary edition update breaking many mods by nurfing skse in a manner worse than usual updates do. That and Bash telling me, for the first time ever, about missing strings. Mixed the two games up. My bad.
And how did FO4 suddenly have missing strings if the game was never updated? Somehow, steam modified my FO4, even thought I never loaded / played it. Strange?
