Would like to know
Why is the common 10mm pistol so huge?I mean the Deliverer is like twice or 3 times smaller(it looks like slightly modified Walther PPK)
What's the reason for the common nameless 10mm pistol to be so large?
To me it looks like bad unrealistic design
I think even desert eagle has twice thinner barrel than this thing
Also the same question applies to the "assault rifle"

Can't agree with you more, if I ever get to a second play through, this will be one of the first things I will find a mod to fix.

I own a Glock 20 and while it is a hefty weapon it doesn't have nearly the absurd tall brick slide that the game's 10mm does. Most of the girth is in the double-stacked magazine (the grip) not the slide. The game's 10mm is way top-heavy. And what the hell is that drooping foregrip supposed to do? It looks like an "option" for a forward magazine loader or something.

I would make it huge so a new player will see it and pick it up. I think that's why there are 2 clean vault 111 suits, 2 10mm pistols, and two security batons in Vault 111 - so if the new player misses one he'll find the other, and make them large and easy to see.
I guess we complain what we know about! It is a game tho'. We accept that FEV will make you large, green, violent and stupid; people make fusion reactors but don't know how to use a broom; and radiation either kills your or makes you free of death by old age; but dang, what's with this oversized pistol?!

its purely about appearance
I like when my gun looks good
that's why I prefer Deliverer to the ugly common 10mm gun
ugly looking guns ruin gunplay not to mention very bad shot sounds
sadly fallout 4 has one of the worst weapons Ive seen in games in general
but the look of this pistol IMO is exceptionally bad and unrealistic

the 10mm pistol has always had the same general design in the entire fallout series (never played fallout 76, so don't know about that). you can add mods to it to slim it down a bit. ultimately, if you don't like how it looks, then don't use it. you said you prefer deliverer, so problem solved

Problem solved but actually not solved
I'd like to have more options than 1
Fallout 4 is overloaded with useless or/and ugly weapons too much
Take for example Far cry series
Every far cry has big variety of weapons to choose from and every single weapon is viable at any time
So you just choose what you like more
But here in fallout 4 (at least for me) there's nothing to choose from
90% of weapons are trash and look like trash
But what I complained about is particularly ugly and weird appearance of the 10mm pistol
Just wanted to know why does it look like this...

From what I recall, its original appearance (in Fallout 1) was based on a particular gun from a comic book, and that reference has been kept with all later games because that's what a 10mm pistol looks like in the Fallout universe.

Aesthetically, I do like the chunky squared-fronted version, even if I end up using mod parts that ruin it due to their better statistics.
Ah is it based on the Judge Dredd guns maybe?

A quick search suggests it's from a comic called "Hard Boiled".

I don't know, it looks a LOT like the Lawgiver pistols from the Judge Dredd comic.

no they have and i agree

it's called the 10MM NOT THE 9MM

the 9mm weapons irl are small. Not sure the 10mm exist but if they did irl they'd be bigger.

Rule of thumb is usually a higher caliber means the bullet will be bigger except with shotguns i think. Then it's gauge and the lower the gauge the more damage i think

to be fair the deliverer looks like a silenced 9mm type of gun or a .22. But of course in fallout .22 doesn't exist. Even in other fallouts they substitute like the 7.62mm pistol THAT GUN in new vegas....♥♥♥♥ forgot what type of ammo it uses but that ammo type doesn't exist in the game so they substitute another ammo type.

IN A WAY IF WERE GOING BY LORE it makes sense. Resources were scarce so you can't have 100000000 types of ammo. Just standards and have everyone work around them. It's why 14mm large rifle rounds aren't a thing in fallout nor smaller calibers.

The more recent designs seem a bit more that way, but compare the original 10mm from Fallout 1 or 2.

The 10mm design also doesn't feature those red lights along the side or that forward grip/magazine/whatever that is that you see when searching for pictures of the Lawgiver.

Man,10mm exists and it's small af and guns of this caliber are small af
It isn't .50AE but real desert eagle is still smaller than fallout's "10mm pistol"
.22lr exists in fallout new vegas
I really didn't get what you wanted so say about resources and stuff and what does it have to do with ugly look of a gun
And yes deliverer looks like walther ppk 9x17 or .22LR
