Need help with uninstalling scrap everything
As the title states, I need help with properly removing the Scrap Everything mod as it is being a pain in the ass. I installed the mod a few days ago at time of writing for reasons i do not remember and i used it along side a mod called Raze My Settlement to clear settlement areas faster. I realized (because I forgot to read the mod page like an idiot) that the foundation floor(?) for the house to the left of the house with the workshop was getting scraped when I use the raze settlement mod. I do not want this as i use that area for a house build location in Sanctuary for whenever I start a new game. This happens to the other 3 houses in Sanctuary that you can completely scrap as well as their respective foundation floors (I really don't know what they are called). When i scrap things manually, I cannot scrap those foundations, but when i run the raze mod it scraps them as well.

Here is where my problem lies, I uninstalled the Scrap Everything mod a few minutes after installing it, see above as to why. However, the game at large as well as the Raze My Settlement mod still behave as if I have the SE mod installed with it's esp enabled even though i have removed both the mod and it's archive from Vortex. This is shown in-game through the problem mentioned above as well as the elevator in Vault 111 and its opening/closing gate being invisible, the hit/collision boxes for both remain however. This issue with the elevator occurs when you first enter the vault as well as when you leave it at the end of the prologue. There is another discussion mentioning how they fixed the elevator problem by removing it but doesn't mention how they did it. I would very much appreciate some help and if you need me to clarify something please let me know.

I think the reply you got in the SE mod's forum is probably correct. Uninstalling won't magically undo anything. It's like buying a shovel and digging a hole. If you return the shovel to the store, the hole doesn't get filled in.

I think SE works by adding items to the scrappable items list. That's a permanent change.
Then it disables or removes the texture for any item that you scrap with it. Again, that's a permanent change. Removing the mod won't reverse the changes. The changes are baked into the save file.

Do you have any ideas as to how to undo this change? For the record, I have started 2 new characters after deleting the 2 old ones I had when I originally downloaded the mod. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Fallout 4 itself to see if that would work but it didn’t. The only thing I can think of is deleting all of my mods including their archives, downloading fallout 4 again after deleting the characters then reinstalling all of my mods which is something I don’t want to do as I have over 250 mods…

The only way to remove a mod mid playthrough is to rollback to a save before you had it installed

The one thing that comes to my mind are changes to some .ini that need to be reverted, if those in the Win User folder persist trough a re-install ? Got no idea off the top of my head. Apart from that, uninstalling the mod files should have been enough ( Even if maybe not without a new game, no idea about that either)

Look for these in your ini files, and change the "0" to "1"
UsePreCulledObjects=0
bUseCombinedObjects=0

No idea where they're supposed to go as I can't find any of that in my \Documents folder and I currently got no time nor mental state to deal with the arcane sorcery BS that is this game's .ini system ... ahem.

As per usual, I recommend Bilago's Config Tool, to edit specific variables and have it (seemingly) work without going through all the files.

Not sure if this might help, BUT there is an addon for scrap everything called Scrap (Not quote) everything. That will remove some of the big items like big roads and foundations(you choose what you want) from the scrap everything list. It might be able to undo the scrap everything scrap entries. So raze everything, won't raze EVERYTHING.

It seems like that mod would help with my raze issue, however one problem remains, the Vault 111 elevator and gate being invisible potentially due to SE. How would that problem get solved?

Once you uninstall a mod that relies on SE, you basically must start a new game. SE reliant mods break the game once they're removed from your active save. And even if you manage to somehow revert the changes, your save is still screwed.

It really depends on how the mod is written.

Basically a scrapping mods changes the default .json file for each settlement and replaces it with a custom file. That custom file is what adds the objects as you described.

When you remove the mod it should revert all the .jsons back to their default jsons, which is quite messy because you will end up with duplicated vanilla objects. I have done this before:

So yeah with so many duplicated objects and triangle issues I scrapped the save.

Q: Your mod broke my game!
A: Uninstall this mod and revert to an earlier save.
Whisper is one of the development team for Sim Settlements for years now, if that is what he says to do, then you should do that. Meaning some of the stuff he did is probably baked into your save.

Normally I would say use Workshop Framework or Transfer Settlements and simply reset the settlement by scrapping all (to ensure no duplicate objects) and importing the default .json file. However pretty sure scripting was baked into the save.

So, doing a bit of a read back here, what I should do is uninstall Raze my Settlement, use Workshop Framework to reset the scraping file(?), start a new save game, play through until I get to Sanctuary, use WF to reset again, save, and then reinstall Raze My Settlement and see if it works. Is that a good game plan or should I do more that this and if so what should I do?

No, Raze My Settlement is baked into your save, there is no removing it. If you no longer wish to use it then you need to wait until you start a new game to remove it.

You need to decide what scrapping mods you want to keep then proceed from there.

If you have Workshop Framework you can reset any settlement.
1. Scrap everything within the settlements borders to give yourself a clean slate and ensure no objects get duplicated.
2. Use Workshop Framework to either reset the settlement to the default .json or important a settlement.

In the future I strongly advise not to use settlement stripping abilities like scrapall commands or mods that scrap everything for you. There is far too many items they can accidentally scrap or items you do not want scrapped.

Personally, I use and would recommend Raze my Settlement + Clean my Settlement REDUX. Those don't break PreCombines or anything else, CMS allows to remove most of the worst offenders (imo): bushes, vines and those trash decals on the ground. You can't scrap more of the solid objects that may annoy you with them, but they also don't open up a ton of game-wrecking potential.

Won't touch Scrap Everything with a ten-foot-pole again, it just breaks way too much.

Question: how do I use Workshop Framework to reset a settlement? What option in the drop down menu in MCM under Workshop Framework do I hit?

None. When you walk up to the workbench there is a button marked manage.
Zekiran Nov 16, 2022 @ 7:39pm
I personally would AVOID that like the plague if you have any custom settlements or specifically zorkaz's 'ziplines and extended wires' mod because it will very much break.
AgentDerp217 Nov 16, 2022 @ 9:15pm
Someone mentioned earlier that I can use the Workshop Framework mod to reset the settlement to its default .json, which I have no idea what that is truth be told. Can someone give me a step by step walkthrough on how to do this as I do not know how to even use the Workshop Framework mod? I downloaded it because it is a requirement for another mod I use (I forget which one).
