Brahmin........how do you assign a settler to them?
I have lots of Brahimin in my various towns. But I can't seem to get anybody to take care of them. Or do I have to? I have set up a trough for them. And I click on a settler and tell him to go to the brahmin but nothing seems to happen/

You don't need to, they just hang around by themselves and produce fertilizer automatically, your guys don't need to tend to them

There is no need to do anything with the brahmin. They will produce fertilizer no matter what. The trough is only to move them to a certain area of the settlement. Maybe an area where they less likely get between the lines in case of an attack. Unlike settlers, brahmin can get killed by enemy fire, as far as I know.

Build a feeding trough for them and they will stay close to it. They produce fertilizer for the settlement.

I use a mod that also allows them to produce milk that gives 10HP and removes 60 rads. I agree with placing the trough as far from settlers pathing or areas I like to utilize. One annoying thing I need to find a mod to change is allowing me to kill one without triggering the whole settlement to attack.

I've built a Slaughterhouse once that kills them with those big circular Saws. Had a Feeding Through at the End of it so they would walk in there on their own

You can actually get some nexus mods that adds a crafting station NPCs can work at that produce meat and skins. Not that the presence of cows has anything to do with this mod, I think it's Wasteland Imports. In fact, you can have no cows and the station still produces, and even if there were cows, does not reduce their numbers.

Sim Settlements 2 also has some nifty agriculture buildings where you can have cow farms and NPC job sites at a slaughterhouse, too. Otherwise, you can "thin out the herd" yourself, nature's own baseball bat + one cow forehead does the trick right nicely. And SS2 doesn't depend on actual cows, cows come with the mod. So if you have other cows wandering around, nothing will "sort" that problem out, if you catch my drift.

You can get more brahmin for your settlement as well, get enough of them and can use the extra fertilizer for trading in shops

kelly is the only one that sells them and her location is random so have to use console commands to bring her to you or you to her

You can also catch them with a Trap if you have a specific DLC. I think it might be Contraptions Workshop 😉
